Did you know you could connect your phone to your car through Bluetooth without making a trip down to the dealership? The process is pretty straightforward and takes just a few minutes. You'll need to make sure the Bluetooth feature is turned on on your cell phone before getting started, however. After that, the setup process involves pressing a few buttons in the correct sequence. Once your phone is connected to Bluetooth, you will be able to make phone calls via Bluetooth without needing to repeat the setup process. Let's get started!

Material Needed

  • Owner's manual

Step 1 – Enter the SYNC system on your car

  • Press the "TUNE OKAY" button on your car's dashboard.

Step 2 – Check your car's dashboard for a code

As your cell phone attempts to connect to Bluetooth, you will receive a code that will display on your car's console screen. If you do not see the code, you will know an error occurred and you will need to begin again. Confirm the code on your phone and the process is complete.

Pro Tip

You can download your phone's phone book by following the on-screen prompt, which essentially involves you agreeing "yes" to download your phone book to your car's computer.

Step 3 – Make a phone call

Attempt to make a phone call using Bluetooth. If the feature does not work properly, you will need to start again. If it does, then it will not be necessary to repeat the setup process; you are all done and can continue using this convenient feature by simply pressing the Bluetooth button as needed. If you continue to have trouble connecting your phone to Bluetooth, however, consult your owner's manual or visit a local Ford dealership. Big box electronics stores could also help you in setting up Bluetooth calling. Pricing varies by geographical area, but should cost you between $20 to $60.

Pro Tip

Because you can operate Bluetooth from your steering wheel control buttons, it's best to try these out before getting on the road. That way, you will be 100 percent familiar with them before driving.
