Materials Needed

  • Flat head screwdriver
  • New bulb

Warning

Don't touch the bulb's glass part with your bare hands, the oils from your skin can ruin it. Either wear gloves, or hold it from the plastic part.

Headlights

Step 1 – Remove the headlight bulb

Open the hood on your Ford Mustang. Pull up on the two fasteners on top of the headlight assembly you will be working on. If you can't pull it up by hand, pry it up gently using your flat head screwdriver. There should be two fasteners holding the headlight assembly in place. Pull the whole assembly out, disconnect the bulb assembly, then remove the bulb by twisting it counterclockwise.

Step 2 – Install the new bulb

Install the new bulb by turning it clockwise to lock it in place. Connect the bulb assembly (connector) by locking it into place with the bulb. Align the headlight assembly back into place, then push the two fasteners down. Give the headlight a test, if it doesn't work, make sure the bulb connector is locked into place.
