CHICAGO - Cars.com, one of the nation's leading resources for buying and selling a car, announced today that the Ford Mustang has been selected by the site's users as the winner of its first annual Shoppers' Choice Award.  Finalists were selected based on key shopping indicators and owner feedback on Cars.com including leads to dealers, vehicle searches on the site and volume and quality of consumer vehicle reviews collected on Cars.com.  Additionally, thousands of consumer votes via the Cars.com's Facebook page were tallied, and the Ford Mustang rose above the other contenders as the Shoppers' Choice Award winner.

"The Mustang is -- and has always been -- an iconic car with a loyal following," said Cars.com editor-in-chief Patrick Olsen. "Over the years it has remained a high-quality, fun car to own, and it's no surprise it won. Ford should be proud of this win because it's a direct recommendation from Mustang owners."

How To Lower your Classic Mustang

The Mustang classic is one of Ford's best known and strongest performing vehicles. Outfitted with an impressive motor and a sleek, stylish body, this muscle car has been one of the most popular high performance vehicles for many decades and is synonymous with an excellent car. Many classic Mustang owners look for ways to modify their vehicles so that they have a unique appearance and design, even in comparison with other Mustangs and classic cars on the road. One of the most affordable and easiest ways to do this is to install a lowering kit by setting up new suspension springs in your vehicle. This procedure is somewhat dangerous if not performed correctly, but can also be a great way of modifying your car for cheap, provided that you're careful.

Step 1 -- Gather the Necessary Materials

You'll need the following materials in order to appropriately lower your classic Mustang:

  • Torque wrench
  • Hydraulic jack and two tall jack stands
  • Assistant to help throughout the procedure
  • New suspension system for your vehicle
  • Socket wrench and various sockets
  • Breaker bar
  • TracKey, available for 2012 Mustang Boss 302 owners through Ford dealers, adds TracMode powertrain control software to the car for track use, providing full race calibration and two-stage launch control in addition to stock calibration, without compromising factory warranty
  • Using a dual-path powertrain control module (PCM), TracKey software is installed after the vehicle is purchased; accessed by a specially programmed vehicle key, new code coexists with stock Boss software, allowing drivers to choose between street or track use simply by selecting a key
  • No aftermarket chips or permanent modifications are made when TracKey is used, allowing owners to return to the stock setting by starting the car with a regular key

Starting Oct. 31, new print and television ads will launch for the new F-150 featuring Dennis Leary.

DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 11, 2010 - You hold two keys: One has a black Boss logo, the other red: Either will start your 2012 Mustang Boss 302. Slide the all-black key into the lock cylinder, give it a twist and you're treated to 444 ponies worth of smooth, streetable driving joy. Or choose red - the TracKey - and you have a competition-ready track car.

A joint project between Mustang engineers and Ford Racing, TracKey adds a second set of powertrain control module (PCM) software to a customer's Mustang Boss 302, activated by a specially programmed vehicle key. When invoked by TracKey, the new TracMode software alters more than 200 engine management parameters, increasing low-end torque and turning the potent but well-mannered stock Boss into a competition-ready track car. Remove TracKey and start Boss with the standard key, and all factory engine settings are restored for a comfortable drive home from the course.

How to Lower your Mustang Saleen

The Mustang Saleen is one of the most popular of all of Mustang's line of cars under the Ford manufacturer. The Saleen is both sleek and elegant and a powerful muscle car, combining elements of different types of vehicles from Ford's production line. It's no surprise then that it is one of the most popular muscle cars of its type amongst collectors and auto enthusiasts. Many of these owners wish to modify or customize their Saleen to give it a personal touch. One of the best ways to do this is by lowering the car with a new springs kit, available wherever suspension systems are sold in your area. These kits are relatively easy to install, but they can be somewhat dangerous, so it's important to exercise caution at all times when you're working on this project.

Step 1 -- Collect Your Materials

You'll need the following materials in order to properly lower your Mustang Saleen:

  • Hydraulic jack and two separate jack stands for holding the vehicle
  • Torque wrench
  • Socket wrench with multiple socket sizes
  • New suspension springs kit for the Saleen
  • Assistant to help throughout the procedure
  • Breaker bar

How to Change the Oil for your Mustang Roush

Changing the oil in your Mustang Roush can be one of the most intimate and exciting parts of caring for your vehicle. You'll learn about the inner workings of your car as you engage in this task. Additionally, you'll also stand to save money by not taking the car to a mechanic shop and time, as the process doesn't usually take more than an hour or so when you complete it at home. Finally, you'll be certain of the quality of the job that was done. It's important that you plan to change the oil in your Mustang Roush about every 3000 miles or so in order to keep it fresh so that the engine doesn't freeze or lock up as you drive, causing permanent damage.
