The 2007 Ford Mustang
Ford has taken the already impressive revamped Mustang model from 2006 and given it some extras to really spin heads for the 2007 model year. Of course, the 2007 Mustang won't be out until late summer or early fall 2006, but reviews and photos of this racy muscle car have people waiting anxiously for them to hit the lots.

2007 Mustang Models

The basic 2007 Mustang model is very similar to the 2006 model, although there are some new models available this year that will really have fans anxiously awaiting their debut in the late summer. In fact, the basic design is still similar to the Mustangs of the '60s due to the supercharged engine in a modified body. However, the different models boast distinct differences that really separate the different models. The following description of the Mustang models for 2007 will allow you to determine which muscle car is the strongest this year and which one will look the best in your driveway.

The GT500 Ford Shelby and GT350H
The entire world is talking about the new GT500 that is available in a coupe or convertible. After being displayed at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show the Mustang craving public is clamoring for the debut in the late summer of 2006. The 475 horsepower Mustang with a 6 speed manual transmission paired with a supercharged 5.4L V8 might be the best selling Mustang model yet. This brand new model for 2007 is simply outstanding.

The GT350H is also receiving a makeover for 2007 and will be distributed to a small number of Hertz dealers nationwide as occurred with the 1966 version of the GT350H. The car will mimic its ancestor in paint with a black body and gold stripes. The 320 horsepower will be produced by a 4.6-liter V8 engine and there will be modifications to the intake and exhaust. The interior will have new luxuries all its own, but they have not be disclosed as yet.

Ford Mustang GT California Special
If you are one of the people anxiously awaiting the California Special then you will be excited to know that it will be available nationwide with a tape stripe, front and rear fascias unlike any you have ever seen, side scoops, a rear diffuser, and a one and a half inch lower chin spoiler than on the GT. You may choose between a coupe or a convertible and several color options that include Vista Blue, Black, Redfire, and Performance White. Even more impressive are the luxuries inside the GT/CS. The leather seats are heated and the color options are black and light tan or black and light grey. A compass is incorporated with the rearview mirror that also includes the outside temperature. Owners of the California Special will also be bowled over with the Homelink in the rearview mirror that allows the driver to open his garage door right from a button.

Also, decals will be placed on the doors and fenders sporting the GT/CS logo and special California floor mats will protect the interior. The pony detailed engine cover sets off the design of this muscle car.

2007 Ford Mustang GT and V6
The V6 and GT are improved in 2007 and Mustang fans are sure to be pleased. The V6 has the option of 17 inch wheels while both models are available with a comfort package that truly will make you want to live in your new ride.

New Options for 2007 Mustang Models

What's new with the 2007 model is simply more muscle! This car offers bigger and better brakes, an amazing amount of horsepower, improved aerodynamics, and plenty more.

When you see the 2007 Mustang you will notice right away the change in the hood. With past models the hood was smoother, but this year shows a bulky hood that looks as if it has been hitting the gym.

The live axle that is also used with the Crown Vic is making a new appearance this year as the support for this racing machine. Also, the cars sport spoilers and stripes paying homage to Mustang models past and to a history of road races, burning rubber, and simply being cool. Outdoing its forefathers, the 2007 Mustang GT500 has a different engine than the 7.0-liter big block V8 that the 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 Fastback boasted. This year Mustang enthusiast's dedication is rewarded with this new model that sports a super engine with 32 valves, double overhead cams, and an Eaton supercharger that makes this GT500 fly.

The V6 and GT have comfort packages that really make this muscle car more luxurious but no less macho. A 6-way power passenger seat is complemented with heated seats and there is also an electrochromic mirror with compass.

SIRIUS Satellite Radio is now available for those individuals who want commercial free music and are willing to pay for the option.

The V6 also has an option for 17 inch wheels which makes the 2007 Mustang even hotter.

The GT has an appearance package that includes an engine cover, rolled exhaust, and hood scoop.

Grabber Orange is a new color reminiscent of the '60s and will surely get you noticed on the roads. Alloy Grey is another new color option this year that many buyers will want.

A new option for V6 Mustangs with the Exterior Sport Appearance package is a new and improved spoiler.

GT500 Powertrain and Chassis

The 2007 Shelby GT500 has a powertrain and chassis that makes all other cars turn green with jealousy. Sporting 475 horsepower this Mustang is the strongest factory built Mustang ever to hit the market. The 5.4 liter V-8 perhaps wins the title of best muscle car ever and in addition it runs clean due to the 32 valves, supercharger, and water to air intercooler. The air flow is perfected with aluminum heads taken from the Ford GT and a 6 speed manual transmission makes even an average driver feel like a professional. It has been over 34 years since a displacement engine this large has appeared in a mass distributed Mustang, and the 2007 Shelby GT500 wins the prize for bringing back this piece of Ford history. The years 1995 and 2000 each saw Mustangs with similar displacement engines, but they were produced in very small numbers.

The 475 horsepower of this muscle car comes from the big block, overhead cams, and four valves per cylinder while the supercharger and intercooler allow for the power to be achieved in a smooth fashion that makes this car the epitome of cool. The combination of a big block with turn of the century technology makes this car kin to the Ford GT super car, the difference being that the GT500 has the most horsepower of any Mustang in its 40 plus year history. Now, that is something to brag about.

The manifold plays a significant role in this muscle car. The fuel-air mixture is channeled into the cylinders thanks to the ultra new intake manifold. Also, the car handles the extra heat produced by the mega horsepower through specially designed features. These include an oil to water stacked dish engine oil cooler, an intercooler beneath the blower, a super high capacity aluminum radiator, a looped steering cooler, all topped off with an air extractor hood.

The chassis is another incredible element of the 2007 GT500 that was actually under development back in '05. After being tested on numerous tracks and with customers and critics alike the super honed chassis with a tight platform received rave reviews for its outstanding handling.

With a revised suspension system the 2007 GT500 has increased handling and is great for racing or every day driving. The suspension is designed with a MacPherson strut front suspension with reverse L lower control arms, a solid axle, Panhard rod, rear suspension with three links and coil springs.

2007 Mustang GT500 Interior

With such an outstanding exterior design, impeccable engine, and better than ever power drivers will be equally impressed with the interior of the GT500.

The cockpit is appointed in a very sporty way that is appealing to drivers of all types. Not only are the aesthetics attractive, but the interior is comfortable as well. Seat positioning is perfect for long or short drives, and well appointed leather is everywhere in this muscle car making it luxurious. The black ebony leather covers the dash, door panels, seat borders, parking brake handle, shift lever and shift boot. This is the softer side of the muscle car, but the leather interior somehow makes it very macho.

To complement the black ebony leather satin aluminum finished trim is used instead of the traditional chrome. This creates a striking interior that sets off the leather seat inserts and door trim panels in the improved "SVT Red". When you slide into this car you will feel the luxurious leather and your senses will detect the outstanding color scheme and you will feel like a movie star or professional race car driver.

Not only is the leather that styles the inside of the car beautiful and plush but it also has mini holes in the leather which allows it to breathe and provide a more comfortable atmosphere for the driver. And, to top off an already outstanding design the seats have embroidered cobras on the seat back to really show the inner spirit of this car. The steering wheel makes the driver feel special as it is leather wrapped, larger, and makes the driver feel as if he is really in control.

There are many instrument panels the driver needs to keep track of to ensure proper functioning of the vehicle and all its systems. In order to make this task easier the instrument panel is designed for easy and quick viewing by the driver. A tachometer replaces the typical location of the speedometer and the boost gauge replaces the onetime voltmeter gauge in order to keep track of the supercharger's functions.

At night the driver may use the MyColor instrument panel to choose the best color for the illuminated display. The center stack is minimally designed so that the driver can change radio stations, adjust the temperature, or make other changes without distracting the driver from driving.

Also, the 2007 Mustang has more space than ever. In fact, the taller drivers that once were uncomfortable in Mustangs now have sufficient space to enjoy driving across town or across country. Not to mention the passengers will appreciate the extra space in the back. Also, the trunk space has been enlarged by 10% to make more room for your gear when traveling or just for groceries. Now, you make the decision, is the interior or the exterior the winner of this outstanding vehicle?

Price

After reading about all the new options and models for 2007 you might think the Ford Mustang has really outdone itself and the price will reflect these improvements. However, a new 2007 Mustang will be more affordable than you might have guessed despite the fact that exact prices have yet to be released for the different models. One thing is for certain and that is when you buy a new 2007 Mustang regardless of model you will be getting more than you paid for.
