Ford Motor Company is responsible for many innovations in the United States industrial revolution, the most well know being the assembly line (and of course, the Ford Mustang), but Ford is now taking steps to help with progress in the medical industry.
While Ford Motor Company has surely impact the medical industry with its many other technological breakthroughs, but for the last 14 years, FMC has worked directly in conjunction with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Series, a major supporting organization in the fight against breast cancer, to help raise money and awareness about breast cancer research. Over those 14 years, Ford Motor Company, along with many of its dealerships and employees, have donated millions of dollars, but for the first time, FMC will help support the Series by offering a collectible vehicle. They will do this by issuing a new special edition model of the popular Ford Mustang, named the Warriors In Pink Mustang.

The Ford Mustang has become one of the most recognized and best selling vehicles around the world, so what better way to gain recognition for this great charity than to issue a special edition that will join the ranks of so many collectible Mustangs. Ford has gone with pink for the special trim, as the pink ribbon has become the symbol of those who support the fight against breast cancer. The 2008 Warriors In Pink Mustang is available on both Premium coupe and convertible V6 Mustangs, and it begins with all of the features that come standard with the Mustang Pony Package. This includes Ford’s 210 horsepower V6 and 5-speed automatic transmission, and although it is the “economy line”, the V6 Mustang was rated the quickest of 2007 under $20,000 by Car and Driver Magazine. The Pony Package includes 17” painted aluminum with a bright machined rim, wrapped in Z-rated all season tires and a rear spoiler. Across the front of the Mustang, the Pony Package grille treatment incorporates the “pony in the corral” emblem in the middle of the grille with chrome bezels and fog lamps. All other options available on the 2008 V6 Mustang is also available, such as a variety of stereo systems, and of course all of the standard options of the V6 Premium Mustang are also included.

The WIP Mustang can be ordered through dealerships in either black, metallic silver, or performance white, and external trim includes a pink ribbon around the fender pony badges and a pink rocker panel stripe that carries the cut out Mustang name. Interior trim includes charcoal leather seats, a leather wrapped three spoke, and custom Warriors In Pink floor mats which proudly display the pink ribbon, and most of the interior, from the seats to the steering wheel, is done with pink stitching.

This new special edition package is priced very affordably, as the entire package costs only $1,545, and it includes the Pony Package at no extra price, bringing the MSRP of this model to around Ford intends to contribute the entire proceeds of this package, amounting to around $500 per vehicle sold, and there are to be 2,500 Warrior In Pink Mustangs offered for the 2008 model year.

Late in 2007, Ford Motor Company announced a sweepstakes to give a lucky winner a custom WIP Mustang, which has been modified by the Galpin Auto Sports. Galpin is the now-famous customization shop most well known for their work on MTV’s Pimp My Ride, featuring rapper X-Zibit. The Galpin version of the Warriors In Pink Mustang has a handful of upgrades to give this car a much sportier look than your basic WIP Mustang. The first addition, and most obvious, are the Bright Pink Dual Racing Stripes. The front end of the car receives some work, with the addition of Bright Pink Headlight Splitters and a Custom Polished Grille, and across the back end, a Low Rising Rear Spoiler and Custom painted Komen Foundation Logo are added. Along the sides of the car, gorgeous custom 20” black deep dish rims with a Bright Pink Edge are tucked under the body, and the lowered ride is courtesy of some aftermarket lowing springs. The Galpin version also receives a handful of interior upgrades, such as custom leather seats with a large Bright Pink center section, along with a Kenwood navigation system with a 7 inch touch screen, ensuring that this one of a kind Mustang sounds as good as it looks. The sweepstakes for the Galpin Warriors In Pink Mustang ran until the last day of 2007, and the winner will be announced once the WIP Mustangs hit the showrooms, which is planned to be mid-summer.
There have been many special editions throughout the history of the legendary Ford Mustang, but few if any will have the reputation of being not only a great looking addition to a collection, but also a symbol of supporting a great cause.
