TICK/POP/SNAPPING/BUZZ NOISE FROM DOOR PANEL WHEN OPERATING AUDIO SYSTEM - VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 5/1/2009
Publication Date: June 9, 2009
Some 2010 Mustang vehicles built before 5/1/2009 may exhibit a tick/pop/snapping/buzz noise when using the audio system at high volumes, bass levels, or voice broadcasts. A small piece of casting flash on the lower map pocket contacting the door panel is the source of the noise.
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
Obtain a piece of soft PVC foam (164-R4901) from the Rotunda Squeak and Rattle Repair Kit (164-R4900)
Cut a 1/2" (12.7 mm) wide strip of soft PVC foam lengthwise.
Using a Trim Stick or suitable tool gently push the 1/2" (12.7 mm) wide strip of soft PVC foam between the lower edge of the map pocket and door panel. Center the PVC foam under the door grab handle. (Figure 1)
