Either way (aluminum or existent), you should get it balanced. If the vibration is barely noticeable, you can do the "radiator clamps" balancing procedure to take care of the vibration that is left. GL

your best bet is to get the FRPP aluminum driveshaft, they send you everything you need for 179 dollars... i have one and it feels good at high speeds. the u-joints they give you, dont seem very good, i swapped them out for hi performance u joints, you should be able to get them at like pepboys or advance auto...

I found a procedure that should be of help explaining it, it's for the Bronco II driveshaft, but the process is the same for the RWD driveshaft (scroll all the way down to see the explanation on the clamps positioning). It's a matter of playing with the positioning of the clamp bolts (weight) to get it balanced dynamically. LUK what you decide.

I had the same problem when I went from 2.73's to 3.73's in my '89. Bought an aluminum driveshaft from Summit and it went away. With the old gears you probably didn't hit the speed for it to start vibrating. It was probably around 130-140.
