That 2nd pic is at a local circle track. They turn the straights into a 1/8 mile strip. It was time only, no mph or 60fts. Its pretty ghetto. It was an attempt to cut down on street racing. They don't spray any VHT or do any prep. That was the first time I had gone to this place and it caught be by suprise. So I basically blazed the tire all the way down the track lol I still like the pic though.

i have run cars slower than you can imagine..so everything is track worthy on the bracket...what model Tbird was that?

95 LX 4.6 with 250k miles, stock
.8 slower in the 1/4 mile than it was tested new. Not bad for wear n tear. and my 1st time ever on the strip. Did about 8 runs, 1st one was my fastest, go figure.

Actually a forester if I remember. It was the second to last street night of the year, and the traction was crappy. The only cars that were doing good were those AWD ones. But you do get to see some funny stuff at NED huh? That night in perticular all the cars that were there seemed to be waiting to nobody was around to race!

When you go to test and tune or Midnight madness at this track they treat the less than 7 second (1/8 mile) cars different than the > 7 sec ones. They actually keep everyone else out of the the best line to keep it dry from radial tires.
Sorry, you were not impressed, keep in mind it is just a project for an old man and two kids that had never even changed their own oil before we started. Yes, I was driving, it was the first time I had run it with race fuel and used the race tune, I wanted to make sure the tires were hot.

You have to understand this was a test and tune when most cars there were running > 8.5 second 1/8ths.
Had it been race night, and we were in competition, things would have been different, as it was, the owner of the track told me just before the run if I could light it up, please go for it. After the run, the track owner asked if we would make another run or two just to get the front tires up.

No, I have 3.55. the idea was 2nd gear for 1/8 mile and 3rd gear for 1/4 mile. I know, you should pick one and do the best you can for it but, my "boys" wanted to run both 1/8th and 1/4 as we have both types of track with in an hour of the house. Now that we have the "block splitting" issue (>700Hp), we will try shifting at 5000 and using 3rd grear in the 1/8th. If my calcs are correct, we should be able to run mid 6's @ 110 not exceeding 5000 RPM. Meanwhile we willl decide if we will transfer these internals to a
Dart block or if we will just start over with a 351 block.

Only one I have. :(

Here's a few of mine. I've only been to the strip once with the stang, and I took these pictures off of a video.
The first is of my buddies and I, the first is a stock 99 M3. Best time of 14.5. The second is of a 91? 300zx twin turbo, with bigger turbos and a bunch of other goodies. It had a boost leak, best time of 13.9. I only got the chance to run the stang three times, with a best time of 15.02 @ 92.4. I know I can do much much better. Sorry it's not as exciting as your guys' shots [8D]

heres 2 of my car (very small sry guys) one is just my car at the line the other is me lining up against my friends 78' Malibu. The blue mach 1 is my good friends car, it is modded out the @ss:D he couldnt hook up sadly, his new nittos wernt very nice to him, i was able to beat him by a solid second so you can tell how much he was spinning. I had my stock bullits on with my crappy stock tires (machs still in the garage from the winter) so i was spinning badly also, best 1/8 i could come up with was a 9 flat

That is a cool picture of it burning the tires. I have a video of the GTO frying them 1/2 track. I'd get out of it, then roll into it gently and they would blaze again. Did it about 4 times, then I just gave up.

Here is a link to a video of my 92LX running the 1/8th. Got a sweet 1.56 60ft. It has run a 10.87 in the 1/4. This is the only time with this car I had someone with me to shoot a video of a run. what does it run, and is it a blown cobra?

Ir runs 7.40's. Not much done to it, but I'm happy with it!

you must have something done to it, as a 7.40 8th mile is good for a mid to high 11 second quarter mile...with what tires are you running those times?

Running Mickeys. There is some done. It has a pulley, exhaust, throttle body, SCT. But shoot now-a-days that's stock LOL.

Transmission was rebuilt by me and my dad, stunk having to pull it completely apart to put in a fork that almost goes but lacks about 1/2"

with that trap speed and that ET, you must be launching pretty well! what tires are you running?

I have Mickey Thompson DR's. Pulled a 1.985 60' launching at 5k on a two step, on the 13.633 run.
4.5k is probly the best, but I can get 1.9xx on 4k - 5k launches. and probly the 3.5k also.
Havent got a 1.8xx yet, but working on it, best is only a 1.929 or so

thats pretty good...alot of guys on here would kill to run those times..[sm=gears.gif]

Goal will to hit a 12, but be it will be awhile before I add more to get to that goal, but will happen eventually

i have been bracket racing heavily since i was 16...and i seldom sandbag, unless the class doesnt let me dial what i want. i usually dial within a few hundredths of my trial times, unless the weather changes a great deal...however, a few years ago, my class had a "13.00+ rule"...which was crap, as my car had the same equipment (DOTs and mufflers) so i had to dial 13.00 and i worked on getting my car to run 13.00...there were guys in the class running 11s, dialing 13.00s...

To be perfectly honest with you, I wasn't even thinking about that. My mind was on the runs. My heart was pounding and I felt euphoria.It was were I wanted to be. Bliss.All bliss and it feltreal good. Besides she was taking pictures of everything and everybody. I mean she wasn't my personal camera lady....

you racing at lapeer in those pictures? the fence falling down, the guy in the other lane looks to have his window open, and you have a helmet on...i thought that someone said that they fixed that place up?

Those pics are from Lapeer - and they always require helmets, and usually catch it when someone has a window down. It was a good run against the Camaro, left him at the tree and he was hitting his rev limiter trying to run me down after that.

They have fixed the return road, but the fence is still falling in places, and they still need to do some updating. But you can get a lot of passes in on a Saturday test and tune.

what kind of times did he run?

when i was there last, many of the roads around there were closed and the roads that were open were unpaved...we did get a ton of runs, but im used to norwalk and PRP, so things like the track conditions seemed especially bad. FYI, i wasnt trying to bust on you at all...i just noticed that you were in the 14s and had a helmet on...my wifes truck also ran in the 14s, and if we hadnt through to grab her dads motorcycle helmet, she would have had to wear a rental..and i would have NEVER heard that end of that one...:D

I don't recall what he ran - I decided that this year I'm going to try to keep better track of each run. I have a video but I don't think you can hear his time - you can just hear him trying to catch up and he disappears from the shot once we leave the tree.

I have seen that car Mustang a few times!!! It actually looks like mine.....lol well now that it is apart it doesnt. I just dont remember seeing the truck and Mustang.

Yeah I through the spares on the front last year trying to crack into the 12's been there done that. Now it is alot deeper in the 12's not bad for 4700lbs;)

Where you at the lastSCC??? We were there with a red tbss, We raced a srt8 Charger for some small change.

I didn't go to the last SCC. Last time we went, the only people looking to race were crying for land with heads and cam LS1's. :eek:

Thanks, still on stock converter. Had a chance to pick up a higher stall one just recently, but a little difficult to convince my wife that is a "safety mod"! I'm hoping that before the end of summer I will get the Xcharger - have to see if everything else I need to do around the house gets completed first though.
