Didn't you already post a thread on this?? I believe the response was, it's probably a sticky lifter or a rocker arm. I doubt it's the gear drive, while they are louder then normal setups, they don't create ticking noises, only when the car is warm etc. If it was sound from the gear drive it would be constant, because the gear drive is always turning. To me it sounds like you have a sticky lifter.

Someone earlier was talking about Seafoam, maybe you should try a seafoam engine treatment, to clean out all the gunk, that might free up whatever is causing the sound.

Did you check your headers? When you have an exhaust leak that could cause the ticking sounds. Check that all bolts are tight, and i dont mean visually.

like Crazy said check for exhaust leaks. also check ur timing, it could be set to high and if ur not running good gas it start detonation. but usually people describe it as pinging.

Mine does it when it's cold, but mine is because of a sticky lifter (I've got all the parts I just need to replace them), are you sure that you didn't mean it only does it when it's cold? Check your timing.

if it was detonation wouldnet it do it when its loaded, i can only here it at idle, it could be a header leak but y is it doing it only when its hot, wouldent it do it when it was cold too.

I have a similar problem... the ticking comes on every so often and only when it is warm. I can hear it in the engine compartment, but it is louder under the car like it's comin thru the h-pipe (only at idle) at first it would tick, I would shut the car off for like 10 min and it would be gone when I started it. Then it would stay for longer even after I shut it off. So I finally was pretty pissed about it so was like if it's gonna mess up let it break once and for all, so I floored it! and when I stopped it was gone. Now when ever it starts ticking I rev it to like 5000 and it's gone. I wonder if we are having the similar problem or if some one can help me with this situation. Sorry for the long post
