i'm still new to this whole forum thing, personally to me, a mustang is a mustang no matter what engine is in it..sure, the v8 may get all the publicity but if u really wanna think about it the v6 was cheaper overall..cheaper on gas, cheaper on insurance and as far as performance, the 05-06 models have the most powerful v6 yet unless you wanna think about the cs6 haha..anyway i'm happy with my car, i only have a part time job and the mods are coming slowly, but they sure are coming! at work, i'm the only guy with the new model stang..only one other guy has a 5.0 and his car is COMPLETELY rebuilt..everyone else owns the GLI, GTI, 350Z, STI, WRX, RX-7 and the rest are pretty much civics for the most part..i love havin the pride of owning a 'stang tho..i know it's something i couldn't get from owning a honda lol (not that there's anything wrong with that)..besides, it's fun to know (thanks through all of you) that the v6 can take out some of those cars even if it does take some mean modding..as far as that guy who traded over for a GT, i'd be very wary of guys like rygen or john at the tracks hahaha

I WANTED the V-6. REALLY !!!
I learned to drive in a 68 MUSTANG, yes that was back in 68. I loved that car, it was good to our family until my DAD wrapped it around a parked car.
I recently traded a low-mileage 99 laser red convertible for the 05 convertible that graces my garage today. I LOVE THIS CAR. I did not want a GT, am not going to try and make the V-6 a V-8, I just LOVE THIS CAR FOR WHAT IT IS.

BTW, the tri-bar, running pony emblems from MUSTANGS UNLIMITED are stick on and are great quality and look GREAT on the fender of the 05. Several sites carry them, MUSTANGS UNLIMITED was very prompt.

I think some people think that when A v6'er adds like fog lights and even GT wheels, they tend to think that we are trying to make it look like a GT.In most cases(mine as well-I installed A gt grill with fog lights),it was because i like the look of the lights and grill.not because I want it to look like A gt.Second,I been looking at A new set of wheels for my V6,I found a set of Gt rims pretty cheap, but then It would look like A gt ,and that is not what I want so I decided not to get them.Like it has been said before,It is all about personal preference, and what the individual wants his or her car to look like, and not necessarily trying to copy A Gt. Here is a pic of my car,I have since installed hood pins,When I take A new pic of it I wil post it.
those v8ers who bash the v6 are just plain ignorant any number of porsche carrera's will all smoke the hell out of a gt especially the turbo which is faster than my dads sl600 v12
p.s. i know a carrera is an inline 6 not a v6 and i know the difference.

Guess I'll wade in on this one. I know two guys with GT's that are placing an order for the CS6 front facia, grill, piaa lights and hood w/hood pins. They swear its cause they like the look. I told them both "If you wanted a V6, you shoulda bought one!" hehehe!!!!

First of all, the WRX isent a ricer. The V6 mustang has a german engine :P Few people in here are trying to make their mustang "faster than the GT" with bolt ons. A few of us may use super or turbocharges to do so, which, in my opinion, is the cheaper and faster alternative to the GT. It's a new age and big engines arent the only way to get horspower anymore. The only thing you really always miss out on in the GT is the sound of a V8.
or just wait till the warranty expires and swap the engine out for a boss 302 and then u'll have a really good sleeper :) im gonna do that
I agree with making your V6 faster, but when I see or hear someone talking about getting the grill and foglights from a V8, that's crossing the line. I'd rather be supprised by a V6 (obvious appearance) with a turbo, than see a "V8" (really a 6) and get let down. IMO, it gives the GT's a bad name.
You'll notice I've done everything possible to keep mine looking like a V6, except for the mustang side stripe... I've even still got a single exhaust (all though this may change in my quest for a better sound... LOL) So I guess you know that I agree with you on that item! And with the Zex there's no tell-tale whistling so hopefully you'll be really surprised! LOL!
Now... I bought my 05 Mustang strictly for it's looks and more importantly it's color... I've always wanted a yellow mustang... I had a black 02 GT Vert... sorry, I just couldn't do Zinc Yellow... Now I tend to be that when I want something I want it NOW... so when I bought my V6 the GTs were still being really marked up... I will never pay over MSRP for a car... period.. So I opted for the V6 on X-Plan.. which means it would have cost me at least $8,000 more for a GT... Could have easily afforded it but like I said I wasn't paying over sticker... So everyone compliments me on my car and suggest I take it to the local car shows... something I've never done... Had a blast doing that all summer... however after the 1,000,000th time hearing "you should have bought a GT" I decided to make my car faster than a GT, which meant running the 1/4 in better than 13.5! So I am one of the few that said "I will be faster than a stock GT!" I viewed it as a challenge! So now the car has gone 13.41... (if you look a most stock GTs they seem to run more like upper 13s...) I can honestly say I'm faster than a stock GT... And I did it for less money than what it would have cost me to buy the GT!!! And I have a very unique, personalized vehicle... and I'm having an absolute blast doing it! More than likely if I had bought the GT it would have stayed 100% stock... I would have missed out on joys of Modding!!!
Can't wait for the car show season to start agan... Last year when say "you should have bought a GT" I simply smiled... Now I get to say "Why? I'm faster... and it was less money...." Maybe childish... but then again I'm a kid at heart! LOL!
thats amazing, congrats on your achievement, thats something really cool to do if I had the money now
I test drove both V6 & GT's with Manual & Auto. I chose the slowest of them all in non-flashy Satin Silver. I even paid $995 for the slower Automatic. She had 4 miles on her when I test drove it. I love my V6-Auto. Dealer threw in the ABS/TC, and the Pony Pkg & IUP were $1210. $21900 paid in full. Plenty fast for me.
