Ok, so Im at this red ligh and this02 (i think) GT(for sure)pulls up (looked slightly modded). Knowing that its a relitivlyeasy kill I just look over withouth revving and give him the "whats up, nice car nod". I get nothing but some hard stare from him and his buddie, some revvs and him trying to smile at my extremly cute girlfriend. She laughs, I laugh and I revv, he begins to smoke his tires. Light turns green and I launch on himpulling an easy 2 cars lengths in first gear, second gear going on three car lenghts, third gear I hold him of barely but he slowly begins to pull. 4 gear I cut at about 100 ahead by 2 car lengths. </P>


Now I have respect for any car enthusiast who respects me. But as soon as we get the next red he rolls down his window and starts talking all kinds of shiit. "Ricer this (my car is definatly not riced out) your bitch that".Being that I am a Marine (infantry served 6 years been out 2 years but once a marine always a marine) I knew I could have (and probably should have) easily whooped him and his boys ass, but being that I am a civilized adult I just left with another GT kill, went home, smoked a fatty with my girl and called it a night. . </P><edited><editID>silver02WRX</editID><editDate>38029.811400463</editDate></edited>

Oh, and I respect the WRX, because it's one hella fast car...and how is 13.2 not fast? It's faster than any Mustang GT, as fast as an 02 SS, and only 4 tenths slower than an 03 SVT. </P>

WRX is made in Japan. Legacys and Legacy based vehicles (Baja, Outback) are made in the USA.

But Imprezas are (and always have been) made in Gunma Japan.

And while he sounds like he's a little cocky (what Marine isn't?), the rest of you 'ban him, buy american or die' idiots are ten times worse and you're a disgrace to MF and car enthusiasts in general.

Subaru has created MANY jobs here in the united states and contributes to thousands of US jobs and is THE BIGGEST sponser of the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America). </P>


Yes I was enlisted in the USMC and I earned the right to smoke whatever the hell I want in this great country that I and alot of my friends risked thier lives for. What have any of you hater "buy American" losers done for your country? Probably nothing. I gues most of you can relate to the guy in my post and have probably been him on numerous occasions. </P>

02wrx, that was a good story i enjoyed reading it it was cool...some KIDS just dont like the fact that you have a wrx and you come into a ford forum...personally i could care less, this isnt my life and i dont get upset about this stuff..its pointless, i just like reading about stuff i can do to my car to make it fast ect..and especially racing stories. my buddy has a 02 wrx, yellow a couple mods..i think its a nice car, it gets me pissed off that he can drive it in the winter and i have mine in the garage!!!

Yeah, I have a couple of stories where I got my a$$ handed to me by Cobras.I know that my car doesnt have the maximum potential of a V8, but if thats what I wanted that what I would have bought. I test drove Cobras, 5.0s, GTs blah blah blah and they were nice but I want/need a car I can take snowboarding, is reliable, comfortable,handles like a champ, has some potential and is relitivly inexpensive (what would have been a better choice?). Shiit a couple more K with some easy install bolt ons and low 12s high 11s are a real possibility in a car that seats 4 COMFORTABLY! The way I see it chevy, WRX, Ford, Honda, whatever, if your a real enthusiast its all good to me. </P>


I just wanted to point out in that story hom much of an a$$hole that guy was. </P>


Anyhow, I have noticed that alot of mods people talk about for thier stangs are gear mods. Why is that? Is there really that big a difference? What is wrong with the stock setup is it the weak link (strengthwise)? on the 99+ models gearing and exhaust are the weakest links on stangs, im sure someone else will fill you in with more detail

Ford puts really tall gears in these things for fuel economy on the freeway, so swapping the 2.73 or 3.08 or whatever comes stock out for some 3.55 or shorter really helps accelleration. Kills top speed, but who needs that anyway.
The rear axle is fine for what more people throw at it, but if you're looking to break into really low 1/4 times you might snap it.
The tranny is the weak link (coming from subaru it shouldn't surprise you). They say it's only good for 300-350hp or so. I haven't mangled mine yet, but I'm just waiting.

That seems to be about the going limits for stock trannys on most cars these days specially if your launching on a regular basis. </P>

I was just trying to point out how much of an asshole that guy was and how good it felt to show him up. Im sure you have been in similar situations with ricers and other muscleheads. I should have titled it another A$$hole bites the dust that happened to be driving a GT. But I dont recall ever writing somthing like "stupid people in a GT". I likeFords and appreciate them as an "American Icon". </P>

But if they're being a d**k about it and shouting "you suck, m'derp...", then I'll gun the engine to hell...then let them fly away on the green light and watch them race air. It's pretty fun to makem look stupid. But you are right, about half of these kids out there have no respect...</P>

my god. he just posted about how some stang owner was acting arrogant and some (not all) people jumped down his throat. being a wrx owner i cant understand why people get so mad when a car similar to theirs loses a race. i have posted mustang kills and mustang loses. dont be so critical of people.</P>


and to silver 02, i have a silver 03. you can get that down to 12.8 or 12.9 if you strip the interior and run a little 110 octane in there. also think about slightly lower profile tires if you are on stocks. also the wastegate mod should help out a little. 12's are possible on the stock turbo. but anyway. mustang owners, calm down. it's just friendly car talk. and lightly modded gt's arent that fast any ways.</P>

hey silver where/when did you serve? eventhough i was army i had alot of marine freinds. i served forsix years. deisel mechanic. you came off cocky thats why i blasted back.i'm bull headed so take what i said lightly. now i make toyota/honda parts,and ofcourse drive a ford,and an olds.yeah if someone hitted on my wife i would be pretty hot too. so welcome to the forum whatever you drive,just buy another car.....mustang hopefully.oh yeah i served our beloved country from 92-98.

Who says GT's or lightly modded GT's aren't fast...Last time i checked some of them where running 13.7's stock and i posted the link once on here. It all depends on the GT you run into. Same goes with the WRX's it all depends on which one you meet....</P>


I've never seen in any magazine where a WRX has posted anything close to that time. The best ive seen is 14.5 in the magazines and high 14's to low 15's on the strip. Motor Trend did a test with the Neon vs WRX.. and the neon ran a 13.9 to the WRX's 14.5.. and it was a full second faster to 120... and the mustang on average is much faster than the SRT-4, it gets to 120 ahalf second faster than the SRT-4. So what am i saying....Since the mustangs aren't fast then what do you call the WRX...Mustangs are nearly2 seconds faster to 120 then the UNBEATABLE WRX. I know most of you wouldn't take your car up to those speeds...I just wanted to make my point to RX kid. Since alot of us own Slow stangs.</P>

Can't say that I've seen your car around. There's a brown Astro with white leather interior rolling on gold wires though.

My 5.0 is a 91 black vert that doesn't have a roof anymore. It's got some fiberglass hood w/pins, big park bench of a rear wing (saleen style?), and a black/grey sparco torino driver's seat, on 17" cobra r replicas.
But I don't drive it all that often (no roof). When I take it out I've been known to flog it though. I haven't hit the track yet, but it's something I want to do when I get it tuned right.

My daily driver is a silver 02 Jetta now, 1.8t with an APR ecu remap. Quite fun now, and still gets 30+mpg on the freeway.

If you see a black 'vert with no roof and license 'RVO VOM' that's me.

bandit...you know i meant in the real world. how often do you go to the strip? you live in WA. just like me. who can resist a few stop light battles? no way a stock or lightly modded gt stays w/ a wrx from a light. with equal drivers and equal mods wrx owns. i dont want to argue about it. i ran 13.2 w/ just exhaust and boost controller. not fast but not slow. plenty to take out a gt though. everyone knows that more cylinders equals more potential so lets not get crazy. traction is the key. and i dont know anyone w/ 300+ on tap that can launch at 5k w/ no slip like i can. but i cant fock w/ stangs on the top end.

I havent seen a GT run faster than high 14's/9's 1/4-1/8. So how do we get these 13.7 times? Where are you guys reading this, becuz it isnt what experince is showing. We have a few WRX's here, two modded on base and they are runnin mid-high 9's in the 1/8. None to serious to me, but of course I have carburetors and 3 speed auto's.

With a few mods they can get into the 13's. The same mods on an LS1 nets low 12 high 11, and the same on a civic seems to get about a 15's. I think some guys race magazines and Factory HP numbers too much.

Guys and gals, we all know that the ONLY reason the WRX is fast in the 1/4 is simply because of the AWD setup, and can launch from high in the powerband, but think about it, once that 1/4 mile is done, well, their AWD renders them pretty much useless! So just let these WRX and EVO people think they have the fastest stuff out there, we know better. Not dissin you in paticular silver02wrx, just the whole lot of people that think their WRX's are the fastest thing out there....much gratitude and respect to ya for serving our country, but definitely not for smoking "fattys", speeks very lowly of you.

i pulled a regular WRX in my old Civic SI with I/H/E after 80, it was rather pathetic actually. And i pulled an evo by a good 2 cars the other night on my way home to about 140...... anybody know the top speed of a 91 LX 5.0? ive had it way past the 140mph mark but my speedo doesnt go that far....

a stock 91 5.0 will not go 140mph....if it did it would take you traveling through several different cities to reach that mark

yea its not stock by any means, i have underdrive pullys, e303 cam, bassani x pipe, bbk headers, flowmaster 2 chambers, hurst shifter eibach drag kit, 3.73, few othe rminor things, if anybody has verizon wireless and a picture phone i can send them a picture of my speedo past the 140 mark cuz my scanner doesnt work......

oh it also doesnt take me much time at all actually, 120 in 4th gear and then just a lil longer to reach over 140 in 5th.....

Actually, with those mods, you're probably still in the high 13's so it would take a while. Still don't know about the 140mph.....that's pretty crazy to race someone to that speed. Did yall have like 3 miles of empty road?

yea i figured i was somewhere in the mid-high 13's depending on the driver, but it was on the highway where i raced the z's, im seriously not ****itng you ive done it a good 7 or eight times, over 140mph, no bull****.

There is an edit button on the top right side of each post you make, just click it. LS1's are highway kings man, you sure they were even racing? From a roll you would be severely OWNED by an LS1. You'd need nearly all possible bolt on's or a power adder to keep up.

man im NOT tyring to start an argument wiht you, im simply telling you what happened. The first one was a black LS1 z28 and we both dropped it at nearly the same time and stayed neck and neck (we literally looked over at each other 3 times and gave each other the "wtf?" look) the second time it was a red Ls1 (yes, i do know the difference between the LT1 and the LS1 byt he headlights) and i hit it before him, but he hit it right after and i stayed ahead by a good 2 feet, but a good ass race. Now whether they were automatic or what, i couldnt tell you, but i can tell you i have been well over 140 mph while racing, and while just testing my limits...... so as far as me being "owned" by an LS1, well thats just not the case. And yes, they were racing me, im not a jackass, i can tell when someone was racing. I mean i have proof of the 140mph thing on my phone, but someones gonna have to get back to me on that one.........

Just b/c your speedo says it, doesn't mean you're doing it. Did you recalibrate your speedo after installing gears? Calibrate for tire size? Determining the difference b/w an LS1 and LT1 by the lights? With your mods I could see you running pretty even with an LT1 from a stop, but not even an LT1 from a roll.

I have 245's on the stang now, but no, i havent had them recalibrated, i dont even know if their taller than the stock..... and, honestly, an LT1 isnt much of a challenge, they stay right with me, but behind a car length or so. And as far as LT1 and LS1 headlights, the LT1 have a more sunken in head, while the LS1 have the flush light. I do realize that there could be an engine swap and your headlight doesnt determine your engine, but when they started using LS1's they changed the headlights. Thats all i meant. and LT1 from a roll? thats really not even a challenge... dude your bench racing like a mother ****er, im tellin you hands on experience.....

I'm telling you from experience seeing as how I have a TA with an LT1. You've been racing some ****ty ass drivers. I ran a 13.79 on street tires with just an exhaust C/O and a B&M shifter. That was after having the car for about a month. The only Mustang that I've been beaten by was a '95 with cam work, 3.73's, M&H tires, FULL exhaust, UD pullies, CAI, and P&P MAF. That's all the mods I can remember. The ONLY reason I lost is b/c I couldn't launch the car for ****. We ran three times from a roll and I owned him. That's why I'm telling you, you're full of it if you think you can OWN an LT1 and run even with an LS1. This point has been proven time after time on this site, just search.

my boy (actually hes a goofy kid i met a few times) runs a 13.62 (yea, he has the slips fro the fayettville drag strip) on stock tires. in his 96 LT1 TA. White, 5spd borla exhaust, headers, 275 tires, CAI, etc etc. We raced a good 8 times and i won 5 out of the 8. Each time i won i took him by about half a car, each time he won he took me about half a car. Its a drivers race, which is the only thing that has been proven. I dont see why you have so much trouble believeng this, because its a KNOWN FACT that straight fromt he facotry in 1987 a 5.0 LX notchback with slicks can run a 13.7-13.9 with no other mods and the optional 3.27 gears and 5spd transmission ( I have the 5.0 magazine to prove this, if u need confirmation ill go dig it up). Explain to me how my hatch (add 100lbs or so, then take it away cuz i stripped most of the interior) with a cam, pullys, full exhaust (straight x pipe BTW) shifter, and gears cant run in the low 13's with a driver that knows what the **** hes doing? I KNOW what the **** im doin bud, ever heard of the viper club of america? I ran a 11.6 in a GTS-R ACR viper last year at Mopar at the rock at the rockingham dragway in rockingham, NC. No, its not my car, ist a very good friend of mines car. His best run in the car he drives ALL the time and RACES all the time you ask? an 11.7. Tell me i cant drive. So add in the fact my mods (even though according to you isnt much, and granted compared to alot of cars, its sint), the fact i can drive, and then tell me i cant stomp an LT1 camaro or TA, and wont run with an LS1. If any of you need confirmation of my viper story, the man whos car i drove first name is stuart, he lives in raleigh, NC, and also is the owner of a 2003 SRT-10. Im not giving you his last name, but if any of you live around Raleigh, NC, give me a shout and ill take you to meet him,a nd hell tell you face to face. or, come to Mopar at the rock on april 17th, where ill be runnin the stang agaoinst the vipers (gonna be sad)

I never said YOU can't drive. I said THEY can't drive. Most BONE STOCK LS1's run from 12.9-13.5, depending on who's driving. From a roll in a LS1, driver skill shouldn't play as large a factor as from a dig. Oh ya, btw, those 1/4 times for the LS1 are on factory street tires. This argument has been beat to death in this forum. Personally, I've yet to see a stock 5.0 stang break into the 13's. I've only seen three EVER break into the 14's. The numbers don't lie man. All I said is that you raced some ****ty drivers or they were toying with you. That's all there was to it. And no, w/o slicks on I don't think you can get into low 13's with those mods. I have no idea what my car will run with slicks seeing as how I figure my weak ass 10 bolt will blow up with me dropping clutch. BTW: 4th gen f-bod cars didn't come with 5-speeds....

silverbullit5.0, i agree with you and know your car can run what you're saying man. I had an 87 GT, from intake to oil pan was BONE STOCK (valvetrain also). My mods were...3.73's, MAF meter conversion with 75mm Pro-M, U/D pullies, bypassed the A/C & smog pump, headers & exhaust w/o cats, and alum. drive shaft...not to mention it was FULL weight (no reduction except for fiberglass hood), and had 178,000 miles on the odometer! In this trim, i ran consistent 13.74's to 13.82's and that was launching like on the street...about 1500 RPM's as to save on wear & tear! With a hard launch & slicks, it would drop to 13.5's, although i only did that a few times! Some of the GM crowd wouldn't believe it was basically a stock motor untill i had to pop the hood and prove it to them! So yeah, i fully believe ya bro. Keep moddin that thing, and drive safe.

I understood you. I just didn't know how TA's could have sunken headlights. Then I re-read and it said Z28's.

To Shacar, you had a lot of mods done to your car and ran 13.8's. Most of the new Stangs can't break into 13's without several benefitting mods.

New GT's can run anywhere from a 13.8-14.3 depending on the driver, ive seen some sick ass drivers, and i can believe the 13.8. 95LT1 dont get me wrong i think the LT1 and LS1 are both ridiculous engines, my best friend has a 99 SS, and i love that car. He has an assload done to it though, so he takes me by about 4 cars in the quarter so i cant really compare anything to that.......

That's very true...They can hit 13.8's but i haven't seen anyone on these forums sites that can reach it......I'm gonna borrow my friends 99 GT and i'm gonna race a 13 second STI and show you how a good driver can make the difference.

True..it's just to prove my point...If a mustang is driven by a good driver they can run 13's....He's a fair driver....As soon as the weather gets better where gonna try them...that's if my friend will let me drive his car again..the last time i raced in it....He wet his pants....that was funny.
