Default 73 mach 1 fastback

need some advice.
some guy offered to trade me his base 73 mach 1 fastback with a 302 and 3 speed manual for my 88 GT convertible.. most of my specs are in my signature so you can see the comparrison.he says the car is a real mach 1 not clone. also what do you think i would be able to sell a car like that for?

he says the car has 55k original miles and that he has front disc brakes that he converted. new suspension front and back rebuilt motor. heres pics of my car and the mach 1

yeah but ive been thinking..... i think the guy might be a dipsht and the car really has 155k miles on it.

either way the car is ugly as hell though. from the quarter back its a giant ugly ass.


now i wish it was a BOSS... then we'd be talkin

well mach's aren't really that rare (check the production numbers) personaly i would make the trade but thats because i don't like convertables so i am biased there. but also if you are in a state with alot of emissions the mach might be a better car to go fast in.

they made 35,440 mach's in '73 it's an "f" code motor and makes 141 hp.

still has some value, but '72-'73 is not a really popular style.

i would guess the car to be worth $7000

i have seen '69 mach's go for $10k

if you find the car that offensivly ugly? why woudl you even consider trading for it?

Most collectors and even the average person are realizing (finially) that these are the LAST of the classic 64-73 Mustangs (the 'originals') and are by far the cheapest of all
ESPECIALLY 72-73's because of the Boss and 429 Mach 1 in '71

if youre looking for an old Mustang with moderate to large CI's for cheap, then there are VERY VERY few better buys than a 71-73 Mach 1 with any of the 3 351's (2 in 73)

edit: and HOW oh HOW can you call this ugly? [>:]

i agree with it being ugly, the 73. id rather have a 70-71, but that 73 looks in good shape and might be a trade up if you can sell it for a good price. id go for the trade after you look over the mach meticulously.

boss 429 was '69 and '70

and as far as looks go , '71-'73 doesn't hold a candle to any of '65-'70

becoming popular i'm sure...but no where near the earlier cars

71-73 all look the same. Theres VERY little difference between the 71-72 and 73. You say its ugly but you would trade if it was a boss? Being a boss doesnt change the looks, unless you dig the stickers....

I would trade the big ugly ass my car has for any of the 94-04 mustangs. I want American muscle as I view it, not an american version of a little import compact. The makers have the right idea aiming for the retro look as they are now; finally something decent coming along.

mustang_montana I think you meant 69-70 Those are great looking years, I prefer the 70' because the side scoops are gone and the headlights are more interesting to me. I also like most 70' year cars, its just my thing that started with my 70' Chevelle, my Friend Devin has a 69' Chevelle and for him its most 69' Cars!

As for the worth of a 73', its still held decently in value, and that car looks great, if there is no rust on that car and its original a collector will pay $20,000 for it in the right place. You could probably average a $15,000 dollar sale on it if you got it. Those year Machs are begining to show their worth as was said earlier. If it were a Cleveland 4V add another $2000 to the deal.

My wife owns a 71' Mach1 351C 4V C6 trans. The car is completly loaded except for the engine, not the largest engine for the year but by far one of the best performing. Her mother bought it new and left it to her after she passed away. Her car is worth about $30,000 restored, its got some work to go right now though. The engine is out being rebuild, complete floor pans (Her mom kept the windows down) and of course paint, no body work is needed but in one small spot. As it sits right now in need of total restoration it still brings a value of $4000 dollars. I think the only option that her mom didnt opt for was the spoiler, which I think made them look meaner.

Your Fox is worth pleanty and is for sure a hell of alot faster than this Mach1, but the Mach1 is an investment IF it is perfect. If it were me I would make the trade, find someone to sell it to and bring out more money then you expected from your Fox if you were to sell it. Though it will take some time to find the right buyer, it seems to take a while with classic, muscle and sports cars.

In the end its your choice, Good luck on that.
