Default dropping in 03 cobra engine

Wasup guys,

I was sitting in class one day, day dreaming about my 99 cobra. And i was thinking about this. I was thinking i save the money and buy the 03 cobra engine for my 99. I take the orginal engine and build it from scratch to make it a drag engine. Do you guys think it is worth the money to get a 03 engine or should i just buy a 99 engine and build it up? The reason why i picked the 03 cobra engine was becasue i wanted my car to be superchargerd. I was going to get the vortec Supercharging System with V-2 SQ & Aftercooler for 1999 4.6 Mustang Cobra

Adds 170 horsepower

Adds 103 ft/lbs of torque

9.5-10.5 PSIG

Includes SC-Trim supercharger

Includes Maxflow Power Cooler

Satin finish

Battery relocation is required and is not included in the system

So i figured that if i get the 03 engine i will be happy with the sc and won't have to worry about upgrading it. Tell me what you guys think.

Thanks for the info.

00banditv8,

What problems did you run into? I would think that fuel management would have to be upgraded. But are there any other problems you ran into installing the engine?

thanks for the info

email me on my yahoo.....Do you have messenger or something like that. I had alot of problems getting the motor to fit. Because you have a supercharger your gonna have to find a way to get it to clear the hood....that's one....not to mention i don't think your 5 speed tranny will work on that motor either...I'm not sure though....email me at this email address....jennings1us@yahoo.com I won't be on here anymore....

Jonny Lightning, Lightning motor in a stang? My god i'm weak at the knees. Have you seen this done? That motor is scary fast in the 4,700lb truck. Imagine the power in a 3200-3400lb car? My poor brain!!!! Would the lightning tranny fit as well?

Yea the 03 cobra has a better engine. Same 4.6l but the 03 has forged everything when i only have a forged crankshaft. The engine on the 03 is much strong (reason why it can handle the power of the s/c). Put a lighting engine in a cobra. Humm that would be freaky. The car would have so much power its not even funny. Good idea but don't have the $$$ to make the lighting engine fit in the cobra. I use the cobra after (since i sold my explorer last week) so its a every day driving car. thanks for the info guys
