I looked for 6 months for one. Finally found my 05 Gt last July. I love it. Really wanted red but got Sonic Blue and glad I did. Everyone compliments on the color. I have always wanted a Mustang. Getting ready to purchase new wheels and new exhaust for it. Its like being a kid all over again.
I have had my 06 GT Deluxe about 30 Days. I ordered it in Nov and arrived in about 7 weeks. Vista Blue, 5 speed manual, interior upgrade, side air bags, alarm, and spoiler delete. I have a blast just driving to work!
I actually got caught thinking about a red '05 GT coupe.... came back the next day and it was gone! Just sort of waited until I was really ready. One day, a couple of weeks ago, I went in to ask if they had anymore coming in and HOLY CRAP there's this vista blue GT Convertible 5 speed with 18's sitting there in the show room. They said they had gotten it in for a soldier recently returned from Iraq and that her had first dibbs but I was next in line. The soldier, to whom I feel greatly indebted in more ways than one, decided against it. Next day I drive away with it.
I'm freaking crazy. I'm a recent transplant from Los Angele to Small-town PA. Never really driven in the snow, never really want a convertible (no hair on my head to keep the sun off...) and I have 4 kids! But I can't help but smile every time I think about getting in my car!
I'm learning a lot from all you guys and gals, so keep up the good work!
Oct. 31, '05 purchase, delivery Nov 7th. Up to 236 miles now, don't want to go over 500 in the first year so need to slow down and save some miles for summer. Added 20" TSW Mondello's w/ 315 x 35 rear and 255 x 35 front TOYO Proxes tires and Magnaflow muffs, that's it. Motor on!
I hate to say that the 2005/06 Mustang "converted" me (all my past cars - (and my current truck) have worn bowties on the grille) but my 2006 Mustang is one hell of a ride. Took delivery on December 12, 2005 and I have no regrets. I got a Premium GT in Redfire Metallic with dark charcoal leather interior. Got every option except the 18" wheels and the Shaker 1000 stereo. I want to upgrade to 18" wheels eventually but likely stock or tastefully chosen aftermarket wheels. The car is amazing and there's little I'd change - factory installed satellite radio would be nice but the 6-disk changer that plays home-made mp3 disks is a close second on the coolness scale.
Two months and 2000+ miles later it still puts a smile on my face every time I turn the key or mash the accelerator. Makes my commute the best part of my work day!
I took delivery of mine on the 27 th of Jan and just love to DRIVE and DRIVE it is the best feeling going down the road just rest your foot on the pedel and it just Goooos. My family thinks we had a mid life crisis but we dont care it is just great.
I'm in Houston and there is no shortage of GT's here. I did a "build & price" (Torch Red GT Premium, red interior, manual, shaker 500, and wheels I wanted but I've read many people here don't like the look of them) then searched inventory and found the exact one I wanted 15 miles from my home. To make it even better, I bought it at dealer's invoice. Paid 26.5K. Might consider buying in Houston and driving it home. That would be fun.
Just picked up my second stang around the first of the year. The first was a 79 cobra. This one, a 2006 GT, has much more power and twice as fun to drive. Next I have to decide what changes to make. Louder exhaust is a must, it just doesn't sound like the 60's muscle cars unless you are on the throttle. Problably some louvers if I can find them prepainted. From there some billet interior and exterior, a little at a time. Any suggestions on the exhaust and where to pick-up louvers? Has anyone had a problem with the louvers coming off? I see that they are all taped on the windows.
Tomorrow's the big day. Going to drive down to the dealer(as she's in and paid for) and driver 'er home. 2006 Mustang GT Tungsten grey etc. I'm 63 but so what! Didn't have one then but gonna have one now. Feels good.
Ah, what a shame, on the way from Ft. Lauderdale to Central Florida, the input shaft bearing of my 96 GMC pickup went out, so the next day I had to buy me a new car. I found an '06 redfire metalic premium with upgraded 17" wheels, interior upgrade, anti-theft and wheel locks. Thanks to the "X-plan" price, I didn't have to play dealer games or pay a dealer fee. This will replace my '97 Thunderbird, great car, hate to see it go, but I will definitely enjoy the extra 75 horsepower!
Now I just need to replace the input shaft and bearing on my truck
Ordered Jan. '05, didn't get it til end of May '05 (and I worked at a Ford dealership!??) Custom ordered the way I wanted it, perf. white-5 speed, IUP w/red leather. In my area, GT's are hard to come by. Dealers are limited to how many they can order.
Anyway, LOOOOVVVEEE the car. Family thinks I hit my mid-life change. I actually have with this car. I'm stuck up north with all the snow. Couple of weeks to go and I can drive it again. CAI + ture soon to come.
Thanks for all the info. The stories are driving me crazy not being able to drive my car. Can't wait!!!
I drove my black beauty home today. I wasn't expecting to buy one today, but I just couldn't hold-out any longer. I haven't had the chance to take pictures yet - hopefully tomorrow if it doesn't snow. I gotta say that the manual trans. is buttery smooth - I couldn't believe it! And the sound of the engine when startin' it up is so sweet. Here are the specs (I'll have to add them to my sig later):
'06 GT Premium Coupe (stick), Black, Dk. Charcoal, IUP, 17" Br. Mach. Alum. Wheels, Shaker1000, Active Anti-Theft
This is my first message on any forum of any kind so bear with me please. The birthday of my 06 Mustang GT will b on 03/20/06. I ordered it on 02/27/06. was surprised to b getting it so fast. It will be vivid blue, shaker 1000, and security system. I am a very ancious about this car. Its also my very first mustang i dont think ill b disapointed. i am looking forward to hear from u all in the future and talk STANGS!!!
Sometimes things do work out! Last november i talked my wife into letting me buy my first mustang. I had to settle for a 06' v6 but any mustang was better than no mustang! I just couldn't see paying the crazy prices the GT's were selling for, sticker plus?! Anyhow, in december ford put out incentives on all leftover mustangs. Luckilly i live in wisconsin because mustangs in winter don't sell well around here. Thus the dealership i bought my 06' sixer from took my car back in trade and sold me their leftover GT conv. 5spd. for $8500 to boot! Other dealers wouldn't touch this deal. I was told I actually saved myself $2500 by buying the 4.0L first (put 3900 miles on it) and trading it in 5 months later on this GT. This is the only time i ever bought a car and traded it in and didn't loose on the deal! Hope these mustangs can keep a value like this in the future! The GT stickered for a little over $31,000 and they sold it for under $28,000 and put 3.9% financing on it for 6 years. Now I got to start all over modding this one!

Was gonna order one to my specs after going to several dealers and not getting the deal I wanted, but then one of them called back and offered my deal AND they found the car I wanted!!!
Picked up my Tungsten Gray beauty on Jan 18th, 2006. I put the wheels on two weeks later.
I don't drive far to work (which kinda sucks now) so I only have 750 or so on her, but they have been 750 miles of bliss! LOVE THIS CAR!!!
I just got a new digital cam (old one crapped out) so pics will come as soon as the weather clears up here. Raining for the past 3 days.
I got an incredible deal on a Procharger Supercharger kit before I even got the car and that will be going on first W/E in April! Cant' freegin wait!
