I have a single Flowmaster American Thunder muffler on my V6, which I just traded in for a GT. That muffler made my V6 sound so awesome that GT owners would pull up next to me and compliment it. My only complaint is that it was kind of loud inside the car. My new GT seems so quiet, I am thinking about going with Flowmaster AT's again, but not sure...kind of nice to have the car sound good outside and quiet inside versus awesome outside, but loud inside....wish there was a happy medium. I had a 07 Shelby Cobra owner like the sound of my V6 so much he bought the Flowmaster AT's for his cobra and removed the 40 series he had because he said it didnt sound muscke carish enough. Quite the compliment...for flowmaster at's
the Borla axle-back stingers are by FAR the best exhaust system (Ford Racing). They are loud but not annoying, and they envelop the driver with a rich harmonic buzz at high gears, and at low gears they sound throaty...Next i get a longtube header system to go with the exhaust....

Well, I just placed my order for FRPP Stingers............I hope I won't be disappointed! Every mustang I ever had I used Flowmasters but from my understanding they just don't cut it like they did with the ole' 5.0L.
I finally got mine after much looking. The sites with the cheapest prices($410 shipped at Northpark motors and $412 at Calpadiracing before shipping) would not have them till the end of the month and then one said I would have to go on a list after they got them.I ordered mine from North coast perfomance in New york and they have great customer service and they arrived by FEDEX within 48 hours of shipping for a total price of $448.I had them put on this afternoon during my lunch break(for $50) ,-the sound is almost Orgasmic to me!.I tested them at the dreaded 1800-2000 RPM for 30 minutes and did not hear any any "drone" all I heard was just a nice hummmmm. Best $500 bucks I have ever spent!!!! .

Well, I got my FRPP Stingers (Borla) and I have no regrets at all!!!!!! I installed them real quick on lunch break and I was amazed at the deeeeep throaty sound they produce. It's funny that every Mustang I have ever owned I always used Flowmasters but now I feel like the Borlas or FRPP are the definite way to go. Its exactly the way the Mustang should sound like!!!!
hey i want to put a flowmaster exhaust system on my 06 gt i was wandering how big the mid pipes were allready and if i need to go with a full cat back exhaust system to get the most power out of it.
Am I going deaf or what? I had the FRRP stingers put on about a week ago,and it sounded really loud then with some drone at around 60mph(which I did not really mind).I have driven the car almost daily since then, but it does not sound quite as loud now and I hardly notice any drone.Does any one know if the sound quietens down with time( I thought they would get louder),compared to initially or am I just gradually getting used to the sound(or going deaf!!!)?.May be it is just quieter now in the car and it is still loud outside?. I would like to make it a little bit louder and I know the O/R pipes will make it louder, but I have already gotten enough speeding tickets and cannt risk getting busted for that. Will shorty headers workr?. May be I just need to drive my other car for a while and then when I drive the Stang again it will sound louder.LOL
After reading all these comments, I THINK I've decided on the FRPP Stingers. Anybody have recommendations on where to buy them? So far the prices I've seen are over $500. Any recommendations on where to buy?

I love the tone of my 05 GT automatic. Just wish it was a LITTLE louder. Mainly idle and WOT. I don't want it anywhere near SLP loudmouth loud. Get to much attention from cops then.
This may have been asked before... but I am putting on the american thunder axle backs, should I stay with the stock H pipe or go with an aftermarket X... If so, is the no brand X pipe on ebay okay to use?
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. Just bought my car last monday 8-6-07. And after only 30 seconds in the car I fell in love with it. Anywayz anyone here know anything about cherry bomb exhaust. I was asking my sales rep at work (I work for an auto repair facility) about flowmaster axle back systems, and he told me that they have a problem with resonation or buzzing between 60 and 70 mph. He then referred me to the cherry bomb website and told me they were based of off flowmasters, but have a bigger tip and there internal wing is moved to alleviate the problem. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I live in Houston,Tx. and we have emission testing here for vehicle inspections. I was wondering what exhaust modifications that will give me horsepower plus sound and yet still allow me to pass the emission testing?

So long as you don't remove/alter your catalytic converters or O2 sensors, your options are wide open.
Mess with the cats and you'll throw off tailpipe emissions, if your state uses that method where they stick the probe in the tailpipe. Alter the O2's and the car may not run an optimal air/fuel mixture, or the computer may store a code, which would fail you on OBDII computer check.
Just keep with anything not sold as "Off-road" and you shouldn't have any worries... now get shopping!!
I'd suggest starting with axle-backs (basically mufflers) - easy install too. That would get you tone, and a small power gain. Balls-out would be headers, h-pipe/x-pipe, etc., but a full exhaust redo requires more research and consideration; short vs. long headers or h vs. x pipe can change the RPMs where peak power gains are realized, so you'd want to think about your driving style and needs before you dive into a complete exhaust system.
Sorry guys I dont feel like reading 11pages... Looking for a full header back exhaust replacement. Preferably Long tube headers, catted X-pipe, and cat back with a 4" tip. So Far it looks like SLP has the best full package. But I'd like to hear feed back from others as to what you'd recommend. Price is a concern, but not a limiting concern. Thanks
I put bbk shortys on mine. I had ford racing cat backs on before that the cat backs sounded good to start. When the headers went on it gave the car a much deeper sound. If you look at the stock manifolds compared to the jba there is a lot more air flow. plus the inline exhaust flow of the stock manifold causes the flow to not be equal on all cylinders. If you really want to wake the exhaust up hi-flow cats or off road pipe will make it sound just plain evil.
