Default Anybody mess with the cheap brands pyramid, roadmaster, etc?

The reason I'm asking this is I was looking at some speakers the other day and I was doing a comparison between a set of roadmaster 6x9's and a set of sony xplod 6x9's. The xplods are 4 way while the roadmasters are 3 way. However the roadmasters looked to be of good quality and had a 30 oz magnet that was a whole lot bigger than the xplods. The prices was $19.99 vs. $59,99 a set, the xplods obviously being the more expensive. I've also seen pyramid, pyle, and other cheaper speakers that can be 2 or 3 times cheaper than anything else. I'm use to nothing but factory stereos, so these cheaper brands would have to be better than factory right? "Not counting monsoon, mach, bose systems you see in some cars" For alot of people that already have the best speakers, this would be stepping down I'm sure. But what about people that are building there first system and are use to nothing special in the first place? One last thing, in some Instances these chepaer speakers are made by bigger companies. I seen some speakers at walmart called lightning bolt and it said on the box a product of Rockford. I'm taking that as Rockford Fosgate.
Thanks for any advice.

I bought pyramid subs and amps and those acctually turned out ok..I've bought a lot of cheap stuff when I started out and it was not worth it. Do it right the first time because you'll end up spending more money on buying another set of cheap speakers because you've blown the first set. If I were you I would look around a bit and wait for somethin good..My friend has sony x-plod[:'(] I've had the roadmaster four ways blew them listening to godsmack! Go with somethin good the first time...that way you ask yourself."now why the F*** did I do that?"

First off, stay out of walmart if thats where you were looking. I would advise you to look for a set of Pioneer's off ebay. Thats where I got mine. They are really good speakers an I heard a huge difference and I got both sets and everything for 70 bucks. Just buy a good brand and dont look at cheap stuff, you'll only regret it later.

xplod, roadmaster..[:'(]

pretty much all the stuff you guys listed is crap. and actually factory probaly sound better then most of the stuff too. never get 3 or 4ways they are a waste of space. there are alot of great speakers out them if you look around but never get something from walmart.

I would assume that the speakers that came in a 2000 Camaro would be better than some bottom line Pioneers too. I can say that the 12 year old 460 speakers that are in my car are better than the Pioneers too.

Actually the speakers I was wanting to replace are in a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire I just bought to save me on gas. One of the 6x9's in the rear is blown because I can't get anything to come threw it. I have been looking at speakers at Walmart and JCWhitney.com. I guess I do need to get good speakers the first time around. I do have 2 Pioneer 10" speakers. They are at least 6 years old, but haven't been used much. I have been thinking about using them.

if you go to walmart and get your speakers your factory are probaly better. i have done quite a bit of installs usally about 4 or so everyday for a few years now so you can really see some crap that people put in. i have installed many cheap speakers in a car and they sounded worse than the factory.

Don't judge a book by its cover :P

....Just like you wouldn't judge a speaker by its looks
