how hard is it to remove the air pump on a 90' GT? or leave it in a get a shorter belt? does anybody make delete kits? my buddy lives up in sc so emissions isn't a big deal. just trying to find the shorter belt b/c i heard it's damn near impossible to take the pump off w/the motor still in the car. <edited><editID>SpeedRicer</editID><editDate>38025.9919444444</editDate></edited>

yes an idler pulley is a free spinning pulley. it goes in the place of the more resistent smog pump. for 30 or bucks not a bad thing to pickup to use a stock belt

o yea if your car doesent break ur not driving it like u should
nothing that swivel socketscant take off, i took my smog pump and ac compressor off just measure around your pulleys with a string and go to the parts store and tell them how big of a belt you need it took me two times to get the perfect fit just pay attention to the tensioner and make sure its not bottoming out.

just route the belt past it, if you want to take it off be careful with the bolt that goes through to the alt. bracket the get seized up in the aluminum,so they can snap,Iwould pull all the emissions garbage off.

You also need to remove that head pipe that runs between the two heads and cap their holes off.I used the pie plugs from ford to do it.These holes are where the air pump use to pump fresh air into the heads. Its a must that you cover these holes after the pump is deleted.</P>
As far as the belt do not spend any more money than you have to and just get a new belt at the most. You can also reverse the tensioner which will take up quite a bit of slack.</P>
where exactly does that hose run between the heads? behind the motor? is it connected to the one that goes to the headers? i'm not at my friends house right now so i can't exactly go check it out.
