Have owned 2 Beautiful perfect running Cobras here; a 99 Vert and an 01 Coup. 170k miles total
Both were truly amazingly nimble, tight, and fast, hot cars for the ONLY 30Gs I paid for them each.
Also drove a 99 GT 37k miles and it was no slouch either.
Now here comes the 42k/46k(vert) latest SVT jewel and I believe it is flawed for three very basic reasons.
1. The strips are nice for those who want that kinda STAND OUT IN A CROWD decoration but to me it looks TERRIBLE.
I am also sure the law will focus keenly on that too. ( can you say a no more 5-10 miles over driving ....... )
2. The weight at 3900/4050 is a joke with a passanger your halling 4500 lbs around ok ok
3. 57/43 weight f/r WTF are those ford engineers thinking there ?
?? ANY OTHER THOUGHTS ON THIS ??
Kinda makes me sad as I was hoping to move up a nice 07 SVT Cobra in about a year.
Oh well ...

I love the GT500. Even though its a little heavy, I think the GT500 is gonna be a beast..They are saying between 470 and 480 horsepower stock. With just a pulley change and a few mods 600 horsepower seems reasonable to get out of this car. Im sure the body will change a little before its released this summer as well. Here is an interesting article on the GT500 http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=3086
People will defininatly buy this car
People will overcome its few shortcomings
It will be a benchmark for Shelly
I have no desire for one presently but there are millions of other Americans who may

i dont really like it, if i had to make a choice between the gt 500 and any new saleen, i would go with the sallen because i realy dont like the gt500, i think that car is all hype, power, yes, but all hype
They put weight in, it should be easy to take the weight back out, ballancing the f/r ratio shouldnt be an inpossible task either, bringing it down to weight and ballancing the car will make it perform like no other.
I had no idea they were making a vert of the GT500 though, little odd[&:]
Once everyone gets a test drive I think opinions will change, though the price is still to be reconed with, too damn much x_x
Oh and for the pulley change, we dont know what size pulley they will be using as it is, we may not be able to change that aspect, who knows.
I agree, I had no idea it was going to be this crazy price wise though. My plan was to get one...but I don't feel like waiting 2 years.....
I really dislike the price thing though...I don't want to pay 250k for a car......I would be scared to drive it.
Are we talking about the one that sold in the auction this past weekend(BARRET-JACKSON)is tha crazy or what .
I'm staying with my '04 svt, probably the best cobra made.
You really shouldn't try to compare the GT500 to the previous cobras. They are two entirely different animals. The last few Cobra incarnations were built for speed as well as grunt........hence the IRS. The new GT500 is all about grunt and heritage. It's about the return of the Shelby mustangs of the 60's.....in modern form. That means raw, unabashed power. Will it be just as good a handler as the last few Cobras? Who knows, we'll have to wait and see. I doubt anyone in an 03/04 Cobra would have anything to worry about from the new GT500 on a road course race....povided there aren't too many straightaways..[:@]
