I own a 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra. My question concerns the blower whine. As I go through the gears, I can hear the blower initially then the whine stops as RPM increase with no drop off of boost.Shifting to the next higher gear, the whine comes back than disappears again as RPM's increase. From the in car videos I have seen in the various Muatang Cobra forums, I notice that the blower whine does not drop off and remains quite audible through all RPM ranges. Is my supercharger not functioning properly?

well im not cobra guy, but if your boost is constant then i would think that it is still okay.

That's strange, never heard of losing the whine w/o loosing boost. You might have a boost leak somewhere.

Either way, I'd have it checked out before you go rallying it again...

I'm thinking it myght be a boost leak also. I tried the boost bypass trick described at the RPM Outlet web site hoping it would make a diference, no such luck. I'm glad I bought the 100,000 mile warranty! Thanks you your guys. Black04cobra.... does your blower whine remain constant under boost donditions?

Thats really strange, mine gets louder as the rpm's climb. I don't really know how a boost leak would cause the blower to stop whining either, i'd lean more towards the fact that your belt is slipping. Check the belt and see if it is really worn out, or if you can see alot of blackish dust around the blower and on the inside of the hood, those are good indicators your belt needs tightend.

I always thought that on a stock Terminator, the whine wasn't that noticeable unless you get a smaller pulley or upgrade to a different supercharger.(KB,Vortech,etc.)

You thought wrong.

The whine is almost MORE noticable, because you don't have an aftermarket exhaust plugging your ears.

yeah that was what black04 was talking about dude. The stock supercharger has a loud whine to it. I just got my exhaust on and it doesn't seem like it gets much louder from 2000 rpms and up because all i can hear at that point is the whine.

Am I to assume this issue with Whine(or lack of Whine) is happening at WOT through the RPM range?
The Whine is based on the amount of work the SC (air pump) is doing. The amount of work is proportional to the air flow created not the boost pressure. At higher RPM (assuming) WOT the whine should get louder to the point that the SC is at it's max air flow. The max air flow could be reached due to SC run out, intake restriction or backpressure is high enough to limit flow. Changing the air intake and exhaust can impact these factors.
I just watched my vid of my Cobra on the dyno with the focus under the hood. The whine got to a steady level and stayed there to redline. This made sense for mine because with the 2.80 pulley my boost is 16# up to Mid 5000s and then it drops to 13# by redline. This would indicate it reaches it's max flow and stays at max flow to redline thus increasing in whine to max flow and then steady whine till redline.
