What are you talking about not being street legal..It had the airbags....and all eguipment required for street legal status.....it even had the smog equipment then......So don't know where you get off saying that..And how it is misleading...You guys make it sound like I am over blabbing about my car...I didn't post this thread, but everything said about my car in my replies is factual..So maybe you guys should work on making your car faster...Maybe getting some more seat time in your car instead of seat time in your computer chair, will pay off in better E.T.'s.....Not to mention My car ran an 8.07@ 84 mph in the 1/8th with full interior Drag Radials...,dumps,pulleys,Triax shifter,And some drag launch springs....Go work on your cars, make them Faster and not your silly replies......
good point, people seem to lost that fact in the arguments.

I love threads like these. It always shows who the bench racers are, and who goes to the track. Rey, if you make it to Joliet this year, come by the pit where the red car JD posted is and have a beer. Hope you stick around...We really could use more tech guys around there.
JD did hit the nail on the head. Most of these guys drive mid 14 second cars, and would rather argue with you, then find out what you did so they could make theirs faster.

Actually there big guy..That is my car in the video....And yes it was a bolt on car at the time...I was racing in NMRA Factory Stock running those numbers...The only thing he did not mention was that the ca had a tune...Now the car runs in the 11's and still no power adder..And if you heard one in the video then you have great hearing cause it was just bolt ons in the video.......
Oh here is the link to where the NMRA racers hang out....You can ask the same question here if you'd like.....
Rey
hey i call it like i see it...no offense. i not being an a$$ i believe i heard a bov and others said they've heard it too. you have no weight reduction?plus the video shows no time so what does it prove other then the car looked good going down the track? i would like it to be true as much as anybody... but you must admit it is very unlikey to anyone who has been to the track and therefore we are going to have a tough time believing you until you give real proof
that wasnt a BOV that was the tires chirping from the shift. if you listen to the rest of the shifts. there is NO "BOV" sound.

Guys, trust me. The car DOES run in NMRA factory stock. I've seen the car, and I've seen it make a run in the class. There is ZERO chance that the car has a power adder.

I'm with you on that one, Jasper. I want to know more about the suspension (in a PM if secrecy is a must) but also weight reduction!!! How'd THAT happen?!?! That OWNS!
I took the time to read the whole thread and oh man, how good the bench racers and e-whiners are at running off good tech/racer folk.
Everybody thinks, POWER POWER POWER. Horsepower is the primary and most essential part of the equation, but the 1/4 mile drag race is such a complicated equation of fluid mechanics and there are so many different elements in posting a good to great e.t. torque, traction, weight, horsepower, aerodynamics. And there is a point of diminishing returns on the horsepower thing, too. You got to get it to the ground or too much is bad.
Here's another for instance of why kids on here don't understand a lot of what they talk about: weight reduction is like free horsepower. Generally speaking, 100# is a 1/10th and 2-5 mph traps. It would take not insignificant amounts of torque power to move a vehicle that 100 lbs heavier 1/10th quicker and 2-5 mph faster.
Is weight reduction a mod, or is it smart business? debatable, I think. I'd call it a "bolt-off" mod whereas pullies are a "bolt-on."
And what is the definition of stock? Again, debatable. I had one yahoo here tell me that he had a stock 5.0 and that the Edelbrock heads that were on the car were "bolt-ons" since he didn't do "major engine work." do WHAT?!
SO, is a full bolt-on (generally defined I think as U/D pullies, CAI, exhaust, tune, gears, better shifter, accessory deletions, etc.) on a GT that has MAJOR weight reduction still a stock car? Not really, imho. To me, stock is factory specs. Once you make a single mod, be it bolt-on or bolt-off or bolt-in, you lose "true stock" status. A modification is a modification. "Stock" in its truest since is unmodified, otherwise, it wouldn't be stock.
BUT, imho, as long as one doesn't crack the engine open or put a power adder on it (I'm talking about nitrous and F/I primarily), the spirit of stockness is still there. Not in pure reality, but in spirit. Which is why this class exists.

and another thing, a lot of this intraweb arguing and unholy whoring up of this thread could have been avoided if either a) the camera had just stayed on a couple more seconds or b) the video upload would have been a little longer! We were just about to see the e.t. and the trap when it was all over!!
Who was on THAT detail?! Darn!

i agree stock is what u drive it off the lot from when ever the car was made. but what people don't notice doesn't mean u have to tell them about it. for instance when some asked me what was done to my car i always use to tell them that it was stock but they never believed me for some reason

that's so true, Jasper. That's just gamesmanship there. If they didn't spend the chili on it or help with the installation of it, it ain't none dey bidness. Here I'll be rumbling with an E cam, O/R h, flows and dumps in front of the axle. In other words, it ain't subtle When someone asks me what I have, I always start with, "It's a stock V6 with a hole in the muffler." Generally folks don't fall for that, but I've had a few that did!
