Hey all-</P>


Somebody I know has one of those 2 door grand prix GTPs, the one with the supercharger, stock they only produce like 240hp, but he claims to have 300. So who do you think would win, a 99 vert snake vs the 98 GTP grand prix? The GTP is an auto with FWD, and the snake is a stick with RWD. </P>

Those GTPs are not to be taken lightly... they are easly modable and can produce a lot of power with just a pully and chip</P>

I have ran against a couple GTPs (one supposedly has N20, but I dont believe it) and beat em all. But they can be modded pretty easy into the 13.5 range with only a few mods.</P>

I have a friend with a 4dr GTP put 230 to the ground with CAI, pully and exhaust work. He just got a set of headers for it and a PCM tune. The thing is mad fast! He can just out run my GT so Snake should have no problem taking it. But those GTPs are not to be taken lightly by any means. As stated earlier, couple hundred in mods and you got one fast car real cheap.

stock cobra? too heavy...

if the gtp driver can get it off the line well...

ran my 01 cobra against a 99 gtp 2dr a few times smoked his a$$ and he had like a chip and intake exhaust and stuff, i even took him off the line its all about knowing how to drive your car and from a stop a good launch is needed

You should get the kill, just drive it like you should, bang the gears and powershift that shi$. Hell, if he has 300 rwhp then your screwed but why not, just don't put money on it.

If he truly has a 300+ hp GTP, he is running mid 13's. I do not know what kind of time you are running but it should be a fairly interesting race. I had a 1997 GTP. It had a cold air intake, smaller pulley, and a DHP pcm. It also had a cooler thermostat and plugs. The best time was 13.8 through the quarter. Not bad at all for about $400. GTP's can be made quick very easily. For everyone one that you see modified there are about 30 that are just cars that mom is driving to the grocery store. Be careful. You will find one that will open your eyes sometime.

If he has 300 rwhp he has some serious money in the car, considering it is front wheel drive.

Bringing this one back from the dead (only because I saw Sully's post here....another ClubGP guy!!!!)....I've owned a GP, not a GTP mind you, but a GT. Was a member over at CGP for a couple of years until recently when I acquired the Mustang....the GTP's, when modded right, are straight up nasty pieces of machinery...12's are all too common now with GTP's, and more people are bored with those times and shooting constantly for 11's, and getting them too. I would say that a GTP with just intake and exhaust, you would have no problem with...but a GTP well modded is going to be hard to beat, and if it is beaten, it won't be by much. It's mostly about race weight, driver, and mods.

Just FYI, If he claims 300 hp, the stock cobra with no mods pulls 316hp.... and with very small mods the cobra is easy to make faster----dust his ass.....
Three words of advice---
One-----Know your abilities and more important know your car (each one is very different)
Two-----If your afraid to break it, dont race it.... (and)
Three---Drive it like you stole it.... and never look back-----

I have never seen a stock 99 or 01 Cobra put 316 to the wheels. They are rated 320 at the flywheel. Most of the stock ones I have seen are in the 270 range.

I have seen others that put down 300 rwhp with full exhaust and intake mods.

Yeah a GT would OWN a GTP. I know I have beat several of those pos. a cobra would do even better

I'm always here to Educate and be Educated....lol....A cobra shouldn't have any problems with a GTP..:D

I blew right past a GTP in my old cobalt SS/SC. I know that my cobra is much faster than that, so you should be able to take him easily.
