well the sad fact is yess you are going to have to use a spring compresser it realy isn't that bad. you can ether buy one or rent one from auto zone (i think)

As RJM763 would say---This is a two man job, one to do the work and the other to call 911 if it does not go well.

the compresser that i used looked like this (dont mind my drawing)

Ok, I did this job about three weeks ago.. New 1 inch drop spring, disk brake conversion, new sway bar, shocks and tower caps. Its not that bad.. Took me three hours to remove and install new springs.. The pic below is prior to the new springs, the top of the tire is now even with the bottom of the fender..

Not sure how much the springs alone did do for the ride and everything because I also installed the new 1 inch sawy bar at the same time. I can tell you with both done, it close to being on a rail. My last toy was a 98 Vette so I know what control is all about.. I installed a new 1 inch sway bar up front and a 3/4 inch sway bar in the rear. Glad I did it!!

i installed a 1" front and a 3/4" rear sway bars at the same time as my kyb's...together they made a tremendous handling difference...

also put some wider tires on...if you still have 195's or 205's then they will hurt your performance...

I don't know for sure on a '66 but 225/60-15 fits my '67 pretty good with minor rolling of the front fenders
