Default What if.......

I know this sounds CRAZY but just here me out on this....... There are a TON of really good deals on some 65 and 66 coupes out there.....OK here it goes is there a way to convert a coupe to a fastback??? I mean, If I had a rusted out fastback in the undercariage id there a pratical way to cut the roof and trunk area out and put the fastback roof and trunck area in its place?? of course the windows from the fasback would have to go as well.........Hey don't laugh!!! just a thought....

seriously, i think its possible. The Fastbacks and Coupes have similar bodies to an extent. It would require a lot of medal work but i seriously believe its possible, jsut out of the ordinary.

yes, it can and has been done.

IMO its WAY to big of a project. and your title will say you have a coupe.

IMO if you can afford a fast back, then get one, if not get a coupe. as far as a rusted out undercarage, they almost will all be rusted out.

It can be done and has been done successfully more than once. Not a job for the fainthearted or inexperienced and very easy to completely ruin the car trying it. Nor is it cheap. Though it seems so, you can't just graft two clunkers together and end up with a wonderful car. You will have a long shopping list of parts to complete such a project. There is nothing on my coupe I won't or haven't taken apart and rebuilt but I wouldn't even consider a fastback swap unless both cars were given to me for free.

You know there should be a company that sells these hard tops by them selfs.

Convert your coupe to a "fastback" telling you they would make MONEY!! Fabricate the fastback part and they could be in business...
