Default Pricing out rebuild

OK so i want to get a ball park figure from some people who have paid to have their mustangs rebuilt. I am thinking about turning it into a 331 since i hear that the 347 is a bit drastic for everyday driving and it will break sooner as the cylinder walls become very thin. OK that aside, i wouldnt be doing any of the work myself bc i dont really know much about working on cars. So i would need the boring to be done and the engine pulled and put back together. Should i buy the stoker kit myself? if so where is a good place and what kit should i use? Should i put a set of heads in as well? can i wait on them till later? Should i let the shop order all the parts? what else has to be bought to put the 331 together? Thanks in advance

if i were you, i would check with the shop and see if they mind you providing your own parts. you now what your getting and a shop more than likely will make a little profit off the parts themselves if the get them. as far as the kit goes, just go with a respectable brand and compare prices. check around and see what all you need. the guys at jegs or summit could help you out. and for the heads i would put a set on, your stroking the bottom end so your going to need the flow that a good set of heads will provide, good set of headers(equal length or long tube) should be considered also

pulling the engine is not that hard even for a person that has no exp. one of your friends has exp. im shure, only thing should need a shop for is clearance issues, balanceing, block prep, buy mustang manual and the tools to do the job and still same money on complete R/R and engine assembely, it will cost alot to have a shop do all the work prob at least $10,000 for complete engine build up and R/R and then tuning including heads and long tube headersand costum exaust. good thing about good shop is warranty even on 331stroker. good thing about building you own engine is if it breaks you know who to shoot and easy to find. BIG TIP do not use FORD MOTOR SPORTS OIL PUMP.

for what your doing , grab a stroker kit , get the block machined, line hone , bore/hone with deckplates, and deck sufaces to be true , hot tanked... i belive i get charged some 700 bills for this, but its a lil drastic , not inluding ballancing , use some form off arp stuff, bolts or studs , have some one that know what there doing help u assemble it , depending what you get done 2k apx you could have a shortblock ready for some good abuse. from the way i do it ,
