Hey
If you are going for handling and improving looks check out the street bandit handling kits in the NPD catalog.

it has kyb gas shocks
1" and 3/4 sway bars
the springs
polyurethane bushings for stuff

Get the hi-performance leaf springs for the rear. (lowers rear 1”)

This will get the car to handle almost as well as a stock Porsche 944 (within 5 mph)

If you just want springs NPD sells blue pvc coated 600 pound springs that lower the nose 1" part number 5310-1b for 1966.

I have all this stuff in my car and I can’t imagine driving it without it.

Its more fun and safer no doubt the cornering and handling improved A LOT!!

Hope this helps

Gun

ya man i dunno if im gunna get the ful on kit right now i might just build it slowly, im being pressured by everyone to keep it original and not to do to many mods to it or the price goes down[:'(], but ya those NDP 600 pound prings will do the trick for now

Im not so sure that upgrading the car is going to decrease the value.
While the hardcore "keep it original" dudes might not like it there is a whole other "performance" group of people who would be happy to pay for the car because it is better than it was when it was new.

I know a few of you are going to disagree on this part but I think the stock mustangs looked terrible because the suspension cause them to squat or sit with the nose high, it just doesn’t look nice in my opinion.

Not only does it look bad they handle awful, the rear always feels like it wants to pass the nose up when you make a turn.

With the upgraded suspension the car goes where I point it and sticks to the road and the back end stays in the back. I can take freeway on ramps posted at 25mph at 43 mph and still have a safe buffer.

In my honest opinion a total suspension upgrade with the nose lower than rear is a must with tight sway bars and springs.
Engine upgrade is optional.

Hey at current demand we only have 10 years of "cheep" gas left might as well have fun with it while we have it.

Do to the car what makes you happy not what others think is good because we both know you don’t plan on selling it anyhow

Most of what was mentioned above plus a few extras i know the front tires are thiner than the rear ill check and get you a list of all the stuff I have in the way of suspension and ride height (tires too) so you can see what I did

If you go this far you will probably need shorty headers to avoid road scraping because the car is about 4 to 5 inches lower all around.

Here is the list:

Standard size wheels all the way around (14" i believe)

Front tires are 195/60r14 86h

Rear tires are p215/70r14 96s

Suspension kit: Nation Parts Depot part number 5000-1a includes KYB Gas shocks, 1" front and 3/4 rear anti sway, lowering springs (I think they are 600lb 1" drop but should ask tech support to confirm this) The kit also includes a rear end lowering gizmo that I asked not to be included because I went with the lower leaf springs.

High-performance leaf springs lowers rear 1" (come in different rates use chart to find NPD part # or ask tech support)

Monte Carlo bar (prevents shock tower flex) NPD part number 29432-1a

Global west tubular strut rod (provides for caster adjustments to allow improved corner entry) NPD part number 3468-1t

Global west stock style reinforced lower control arms NPD part number 3078-1g

I don’t have but in near future plan to get upgraded tubular upper control arms NPD part number 3082-1g

This stuff all adds up and ends up helping a lot over stock but the High performance rear leaf springs with the suspension kit and tires will adjust the ride height so it sits like it does in the photo and together make the most improvement in handling.
