I recently dropped a 5.0 in what once was a 4 banger mustang. Its cammed with a b303 cam and sit real high in the back and has coil overs that were in it when i bought the car.Now with a stick and the cam, id have to say its very fast but ride quality completely sucks for lack of a better word. What should i go with as far as shocks and struts?Possibly new springs to drop the back and get rid of the coilovers?I like mustangs low to the ground, sleek, and sexy.Mine looks like a hot rod all jacked up in the back.....its an 87 hatchback with a 91 h.o. Cougar motor in it and an early SVO T-5.Any help would be great.

Sorry for the late reply, I did not notice this post until today...

I would suggest treating the Mustang as if its a 5.0 from the start.... using all 5.0 parts obviously...

The coil-over kit in the rear I assume is adjustable? Have you tested to see if there is any adjustability left in it to move the rear up higher? Do you happen to know the spring rating of the rear coil-over kit? If you're not sure the answer to these two, or you know that the rear end will not jack up anymore... I'd suggest replacing with new "known" suspension parts.

I would put in some new shocks/struts to help control the ride and restore ride quality. Maybe some Bilstein or Tokico shocks/struts. Then, to even out the ride I'd go with some lowering springs with a moderate spring rating... maybe the Ford C or Ford B springs.

Lastly, I'd check the integrity of the stock bushings (upper/lower rear arms, front arms, balljoints, etc.). Make sure everything is in order. If not I'd recommend either replacing them with new bushings or control arms...

e-mail me sales@stangsuspension.com with more specific questions... I enjoy helping...

i have a 87 gt also

i want to get the most tration possible on the street right now i have about 400 hosre not spraying around 500 with the spray, but i have a turbo set up in the works and i should be at 550-600 all of the time. when i take it to the track i will have 26x11.50 mt et street slicks
i do not want drag shocks beacuse this thing will be see high speed crusing, it dose not have to be a g-machine in the turns, but i don't want it to handle any worse then it dose, i currently have subframe contors, and i'm planing on getting uper and lower control arms, what kind of shocks would you recomond i was looking at the Bilstein, also i was going to get a strut tower brace, my main conce is getting decent traction on the street. i know from a dead stop i will not but i want it too at least improve it the best possible.
a stiff ride dose not bother me. i just don't want drag shocks beacuse i don't want it all over the place at high speeds.

thanks for your help.
