Default 351 non roller block question

now i know they sell retro roller lifters for a non roller block. but those lifters just keep each other aligned using the dog bone at top. if you took the lifter retainers and the spider off a roller block or bought one...and tapped retaining holes for the spider in the block, if you could use regular roller lifters, or will the roller camshaft be so small that the regular lifters fall into the block because the retro lifters are taller than regular rollers. would appreciate any help

i dunno if this will help but the firing order on the 351 stayed the same from 69 when it debuted to at least 74 since mine is a 74

the 351w firing order has never changed.

im trying to find out if we can use the spider thingy for roller lifters on our 351w blocks. i was told by someone that if i were to use it and the lifters from a roller block that it would need a "small base circle cam". i am thinking that he thought i meant using 302 lifters. after the holiday i will go to the junkyard and see if there is a difference between the 302 and 351w roller lifters.

I thought that a roller block has deeper/taller lifter bores, hence the difference in lifter length....so the retrofit kit accounted for that difference. Better make sure...
