I understand that 4 cyl. had a 7.5". That was not my question. The axle that I have came from an unknown fox body car. The axle tag is unreadable. The axle is 3.73, limited slip with disc brakes. The question is if Ford ever created this axle in a 7.5"? The size of the ring gear is somewhat tough to eyeball.

Oh, sorry. The SN95 and New Edge used the 7.5" rear, so the disc brakes would be there. However, the 3.73 would be aftermarket. This will help you eye-ball it a little better, though.

Well, it turns out that both of these axles that I have are 7.5". I guess my plan for now is to go ahead and put the one together with the new bearings and at the very least, use it as a place holder until I get a 8.8" housing. Since I already have 31 spline axles and a differential for a 8.8" a housing will be all I need. The one axle that I have that was a disc brake axle may have come out of an SN95, but the part numbers on the ring gear would have lead one to believe it to have come from a fox body. Oh well it did show signs of having been apart before, so it is definitely possible that someone put an older differential into a newer housing.
