ORIGINAL: hunter9s This whole gear change thing has me about nuts. I have 02 GT, lot of bolt on stuff already on it. This GT is manual.. thats my problem. Most guys I talked to say I would be disappointed with anything but 4:10s. This car is lucky to get 5000 miles a year and I don't race it, other than smokin some local ricers I see on the way to work. So with those facts, can I safely run 4;10S or go 373s. I did some pricing and I can buy ford racing ring & pinion and the kit with all the shims, gaskets race and bearings cheaper than Richmond, Jegs. Summit is cheaper. I would think using factory parts would be the the thing to do. Am I right? Steve PS K&W transmission will install for 175 to 200. K&W is a 3rd Generation company here and have done work for me before. Install price sounds great. I had a local race shop install mine for $250.00. Another shop quoted me around $600! SCREW THAT! How much did they quote you for the gears?? Are they FRPP?

o dang so if im gunna get 17 x 8's or 17 x 9's and i wanna get the profile 40mm or 45mm then i should get 3.55's for an auto or 3.08's cuz then thats not to diff from what i got. also dont a lot of ppl on here have 4.10's with low profile. im just wondering why i need this, so its not to much power for the tires? thanks a lot, please help cory

Not sure if ths thread is still alive, but I have an '06 Manual V8. I believe these have the 3.55's, correct? For a "daily driver", but getting the better accelleration, would 3.73's be a good improvement? Or not worth the money? I know people have said not to complain about gas mileage, but as a daily driver (80 miles a day) and $2.50 at the pump... it's hard not to be concerned with it. Also, I was originally thinking about 3.90's, but everyone seems to leave them out of their discussions. Why?

with 355's stock you wouldn't even notice 373's go with the 410's

So the 3.90's are no good? I'm trying to find that happy (as possible) medium between accelleration and mileage.

the medium would prolly be 3:55 but the "happy" medium is prolly 3:73 and the "i dont give a f#$^ gear is 4:10
