Went to maaco today and a few other body shops..maaco was by far the cheapest, the whole car for about 500 with body work..all dents removed. The other shops wanted atleast 2k..so its gonna be maaco, im getting metalic black. it comes with a 2 year warrenty, so i think it should be good..any body have pics of a 98 style mustang thats black?

Ummm there's a reason maaco is so cheap. They do less coats, less clear coat, etc. Good luck....I'lve heard some good and alot of bad from maaco.

yea i definetly would be a little leary. I always go buy "you get what you paid for".. i went to a top quality body shop and it cost me 700 to have my bumper and hoood painted and it loooks awsome. I think they did 3 clear coats

heres the deal about maaco

The nicer the car is, the nicer of job they seem to do because they know you care more.
Maaco paint jobs can be very good because they paint thousands of cars a year.
A good thing to do is to talk to the painter and slip him a hundred bucks to do an extra nice job and youll be amazed at the result'
check up daily and ask about the car and to look at it, if they know you care, they usually will. I had a 270 dollar paintjob on my accord a year ago and i sat and watched them do it on a friday all day and it turned out to be very good only one drip and the paint was good. so you could have a good result or a not so good result. It can be up to you

METALLIC Black isn't always what its cracked up to be. I had and old Yamaha FZR painted metallic black, and it almost looked Charcoal - not true black. Unless you've seen the paint applied that you are wanting, I'd be VERY careful with metallic black.

As a general rule to everything in life....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!! It sounds like you have made up your mind already anyway and it was based on price. You may get a good job but it probably wouldn't compare to a quality shop. I found a great body shop years ago and have never, ever been dissatisfied with their work. I am sure I'm paying more but their service and work are supreme.

maaco buys paint in 55 gallon drums versus the 1 gal can most body shops do..thats a HUGE price difference.. i know guys that own a maaco and a few other body shops.. when i worked at a body shop, they were the ones that told me why maaco was cheeper..

So does that mean if they have 55 gallons of black, you can have your car painted any color you want - as long as its black

i agree with pox throw the dude a hundred and it will definitially be nicer. also they offer a second clearcoat for like 90 bucks or something like that, get it and if it doesnt look that good you can always wet sand and compound for a real nice finish.
