Default 01 cobra vs 03

Heres the story. A guy who lives near me owns an 01 Cobra. His mod list includes long tube headers, prochambers, and CAI.... Thats it. His website (http://www.01cobra.net/) shows him beating an 03 cobra in his video link by 2 car lengths. I'm not positive, but I dont think there is any way a so lightly modified 01 can even touch the SC cobra. Another thing, he has dyno sheets showing 316 RWhp. Stock is somewhere around 260. Thats (in case u didnt want to do the math) 56 rwhp gain with nothing but headers and CAI. I have both bbk long tubes, MAC cai, and rear end gears in my 00 GT and I didnt see percentage improvements like that. So, heres my question: Is this guy full of sh**, or is there something I need to learn here?

Unless he is a very good driver and guy with the 03 Cobra sucks balls, than there shouldnt be anyway he could whoop up a Supercharged Cobra, even with his mods.

yeah i agree. im not saying he actually did gain 56whp from those mods, but the same mods on a DOHC 4.6 will probably give more power than on a SOHC 4.6

Oh yeah, no doubt. I did take that into account before I posted originally (hes got better flow with the DOHC to begin with, AND higher compression 9.9 vs 9.0:1) But still, I usually figure you lose about 20% power through the tranny, so a stock 01 with 320hp at the crank puts 260ish down. His 3`6 rwhp would be something like 390-400 at the crank. Headers and intake wont do that...... without at least without the same magic as those ricer NOS stickers anyway.....[sm=bustedsign.gif].

Also, did anyone check out the site and the video?
If anyone out there has a similarly built car, let me know what ur runnin alright?

I had both an 01 and 03 Cobra at the same time, my son and I use to go out "cruising" together. The 01 was not even close to the 03, that was why I bought the 03 to replace the 01.
The gains he got with the mods are believable to me, the loss for a manual tranny Cobra are typically 13 - 15%.

What does ur cobra run in the 1/4? I thought it was like high 12s right? For a 99 and 01 the best ive ever heard is 13.5, that might be generous. I dunno, a half second gain with 2 bolt ons still sounds a little weird. But thanks for your help everyone.

doesn't seem right but if he knew a 03 cobra owner that sucked teh big one at driving maybe that why he picked on him to make a video to show off his car. either way i don't see him getting that much power outta 3 bolt on mods. im guessing he has a cat-back since he put lt's and a pro chamber and that maybe netted him 3 more hp. he is prolly not mentioning a few things he has.

i could believe those HP gains on an 03/04 cobra, but not an N/A pre-03 cobra. i saw an 03 put down 400RWHP with just catback, then 425RWHP on the second run after they put in just a K&N filter.

Thats what I'm thinkin. The dyno sheet is there on his site after all (doesnt necessarily mean its his tho). There is alot of that goin on. I know a guy with an otherwise stock lincoln LS..... and after he beat me he swore up and down that the 125hp nitrous kit in his trunk wasnt hooked up..... cuz yeah, I would buy $700 worth of equipment and then mount it without actually installing it [sm=nxsmile.gif]
