Way back at the beginning of the year 03, i remember talking to a dealer about an 05 stang since i was interested in it as a graduation car after i finish university. Anyways he mentioned that there was a chance that the 5.0L V-8 was going to make a come back in the 05 stang. When i read the new car and driver and found out that they went with the 4.6 but moddified, i was kinda dissapointed, anyone else here wish it was the 5.0L? does anyone know what the internal changes are to the 4.6 to make the now 300 hp figure ?
they probably upped the compression, put in different cams, devised a better flowing exhaust, there's a million little tricks that can up your hp by a few ponies.
With Ford being the maker, they have the time, the place and the money to be able to research it.

isn't the 06' cobra rumored to be an OHC (dohc?) 5.0L? i know it's not the pushrod 5.0, but at least it'll have the number maybe?SpeedRicer38019.6973726852
the 05 mustang is a 3v 4.6 with 300hp, who knows what the cobra will be in 06? it would be sweat if they used the 5.0 mod motor, but i doubt they will.....

Why you'd abandon the modular for an oldschool pushrod 302 from a manufacturer's point of view makes no sense.

the 5.4 v8 is mogular with the 4.6 and they when to a 3 valve head which i think is stupid because it limits the hp potenshal in the fist year of this awsome new car and chasy. they will never go back to the 5.0 it is old school and think of the weight to hp ratio and look at the power the 302 had stock about 215 and look the 4.6 is geting 300 why would u ever want to add the weight and lose power. and think of all the lost power in using an interal. cam
last time i checked, Ford was busy producing the concept for the 06 "Shelby Cobra". Which for your information is a v10 N/A 660 HP. It has no roof, only a roll bar(wierd i know), maybe they'll make a roof for the actual car. But for the 06 there is NO COBRA to be in production other then the limited edition "Shelby Cobra". I don't think there will be an 05 cobra either.
It looks to me like ford is headed into the smaller cid and more valves for good. The 5.4 triton seems to fare well and the 4.6 3 valve 05 is putting out 300hp... is would be a step backwards to froduce a pushrod 5.0 now. If they want to keep the 3 valve technology AND up the disp. to 5.0 that ed be awesome but i dunno.... what the cammer got? 5.0 i know 2, 3 or 4 valve? What are the reasons with not keeping the cobra for 2005?
