Sweet looking car! You are looking at about 365 engine HP. Probably around 320 rwhp.. First I would change out the crappy Saleen/Hurst shifter to a Steeda tria,Pro 5.0, or MGW. Next maybe gears,x pipe, pulley swap, custom tune, cold air kit, etc. All of those will give you a pretty good bang for the buck.

If you are looking for more growl, there are some things you can do, but might run you more than $500. The Borla mufflers with the X pipe growl pretty good right now with some rpm. They are a little more quiet down low compared to Magnaflows, which would be my 2cnd choice, but I think the Borlas sound better. Have a friend drive by you in your car as you stand and listen outside. I think you'll be surprised. Doing headers would give you more of what you want, but it would cost more than $500 with installation.

Default RE: saleen mods??

i have a 2001 saleen s281 sc also.i added the bassani x pipe with racing cats.75 mm accufab throttle body.modified tunable induction cold air.ported blower and intake from stigemeier.90 mm lightening maf.and my own predator tune.in stock form the saleen is rated at 365 hp at the crank.if you deduct about 15-20 % drivetrain los you are looking around 315 at the wheels.with all my mods i dynoed on a rich tune at 350 rwhp and 370 pounds of torque.i also replaced the 5 speed with the tremec t56 from a 2003 cobra.nicer transmission but it caused the car to loose some power.with the 5 speed i dynoed running very rich around 300rwhp and 400 ft pounds of torque.they shut it down at 3650 rpm because of the very rich condition.at the same time i've dynoed mine they did a dyno on a 2002 saleen sc 281 extreme.which was rated by saleen at 400 crank hp and he dynoed the same hp and torque as mine.so i think with all my mods i am around 420 at the crank not too bad i've been told for a stock 2 valve 4.6

Hey Juz, where is a good place to buy the shifter, and which of the three do you recommend? What type changes in performance? Thanks.

I'm getting ready to get the short throw from MGW. I've been reading and have heard from other people that it is the best shifter on the market right now. http://www.mgwltd.com/mustang_1990-2004.shtml

I've also had a steeda triax. It is an awesome shifter too. www.mustangtuning.com is where i ordered that from. I've read about a lot of people swithching from the steeda to MGW and saying that the MGW is much quieter and has an even shorter throw. I will probably order my MGW next week sometime.

By the way-My name on Stangnet.com is Justin

Default RE: saleen mods??

You go with the 3650 for our cars. ON the 03 I had...tunable induction kit painted torch red, diablo tuner,4.10 gears, bassani x pipe w/o cats,Scott Winger Stainless "Saleen" bumper insert,MGW chrome interior/engine accessories,Accufab upper intake plenum and Accufab 75mm throttle body.

I thought that was your name on Stangnet.
