Default my saleen is boosting low

hey everyone...
Ok I have a 2002 saleen s-281sc , and from ive read there suppose to be boosting 8lbs stock, my saleen is pushing more around 4lbs...car runs great but what might be the reason for the lower boost pressure?? the intake is kinda dirty might that be it?

Air leak(s). Check all your vacuum hoses for splits or disonnects.

Well, most stock 02 S281sc's made around 6-7 psi, on the gage. You should be seeing 6 or so. Leaks, as mentioned above, could be causing the problem. Another cause could be belt slippage. Check your belt for proper tension and inspect it for unusual wear. How many miles are on the car? Another cause could be a faulty reading from the boost gage. You may be making 6 psi, even though the gage reads 4. If I owned the car I would take it to a local dyno and see what kind of rwhp it puts down. That would tell the story. If you saw 315 rwhp on the dyno with the gage reading 4 psi, I wouldn't worry about it.

No, I doubt it. In good air in good conditions you could easily be making 315 rwhp. I wouldn't be worried.
