I have an alpine where the old radio was. I know some mustangs have both cassette and cd players. But I don't, so I was thinking about a scanner or acb radio. But I'am not for sure If I can find one that would fit.

I still have the stock radio and CD player. It still works though after 8 years, so that's fine for me.

This is a valid question. It is "General Mustang Discussions". I don't care much about sound systems, but some do.... no need to be an asshole and flame people. Either add a helpful comment, or don't respond. </P>

The thing I don't understand is you guys spend all this money on kickass stereo equipment so you have some insanely loud system in your car that makes your ears bleed when you crank it up. Do you guys give a damn about being able to hear for very long? I've heard some stereos in cars sitting at a red light or whatever andthe basshurts my ears, and they're several cars away! f*** that man, that's just dumb and obnoxious. I value my hearing. I say for a good stock investment, Miracle Ear is the way to go for the future. <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

I agree... Leave that trunk shaking crap in the projects. I've got a good sounding "factory replacement" system in my car. JVC CD player, Infinity 3 1/2's in the dash and 5x7's in the rear. No need for amps and all that crap. Let the ricers have that stuff for the NOPI's.

I like a good sounding system with some "thump". But there's a limit to how much is too much.

Here´s my view about having a fast mustang and having a loud sound system.</P>


When you have mean muscle mustang with losts of torque and HP, that doesnt mean that you are always flooring your pedal. That every time you are waiting for the light to change you have do burn your tires. The idea is to have a reliable car that you can count with. That means that it will respond when you really need the power, in other words you want a car that can PERFORM.</P>


So, if my sound system sounds great, and looks great, is because I like it to PERFORM when I need it. When you just burn a new cd, or when that song you like is on the radio. Everything pays off.</P>


See, that doesnt mean that I hurting my ears everytime I turn on my system.</P>

I have a new Pioneer Premier 650 deck, Clarion 6x9's in the back, and hopefuly today im getting some new front speakers, dont know what kind. Audiobahn subs are planned for the furture.

I just have a Sony 245watt CDdeck from 1996that is just fine for me... Something fried in it and it doesnt allow my right 5.5 to hit at all, but with another deck in it works just fine.... I have the stock FORD speakers for 1995. Im happy with them, they sound great and I dont listen to it way up. Im more of a blaupunkt fan because of the clearity of the sound. I would rather have a good clean crips song with deffinitive bass, not all bass and no substance to the trebble aspect of the songs. I have the stock FORD amp under my CD player too and a CD changer cable going to the trunk hooked to nothing because the old owner left it in there.</P>


Eventually I want the 2004 Mach1000 setup because well, I like the look of it, the low to mid range sound is so sweet, and it has pretty good bass... But its heavy, really heavy.... My car is 3077 right now, it will be about 3200 if i install the Mach1000, and I dont know if I am willing to add that much weight.... But then again I really like the Mach1000 <IMG src=smileys/smiley7.gif border="0">My first experiance with the Mach1000 was in a 2004GT Hardtop that just made my mouth water because I wanted it so much.... I sat in that car a good while listening to it, playing with the gears and looking at the interior while the sales Rep just sat and smiled with $$ in his eyes.... He then pointed out to my car "HEY WANT TO TRADE THAT IN?!" man they were hard up for my car, but I said no. They wanted to give me $6k Trade in Value for it. Its only a fully loaded Manual 5spd 1995 Mustang 3.8 with cool options and factory modsx_x</P>


But that wasnt what I wanted, there were two cars in there I had a hard on for... The 2003 SVT Cobra and the 2004 Mach1. The Cobra had much more refined seats which sucked ass because they were poking my ribs, but the Mach1 seats were perfect and hugged me as I sat in it and went through the gears. The SVT pedels suck ass for grip, it was a rainy day and my feet kept slipping off the pedels. If it came down to it I would want the SVT Cobra and put Mach1 seats in it <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">The Mach1 is 305hp and the SVT is 395hp</P>


Welp thats my speel about my audio system and what i want. Audio is great, but for me, not at the expense ofweight ifpower is hard to come by.</P>

I have the loud beating system for one reason I LIKE IT.Even with all the s**t ive done to my car i rarely unless its worth it get on it.I like loud beating systems its just my thing.I think it compliments any bad ass car.As far as the trunk rattling mine rattles a very small amount and with it up and really going you can not even hear it.Ive taken a great deal of time to prevent the dreaded ghetto sled syndrome that comes along with beating systems.</P>


I also am not going for just straight SPL either.My system is set up to be as loud as possible and yet clean and understandable.Theres NO distortion in any of the 13speakers in my car.It still has the ability when i go to contests to get down and really thump low.But i listen to METAL so its rare you here anything but METAL coming from my car.</P>


I can say with pride though my s**t is set up right and doing its job and then some just ask the cop that followed the sound from 2 blocks one night and traced my car because of the sound.He said it was clean and clear and he could understand everything playing.Said it wouldnt be his first choice for music but i certainly had a nice setup.I even popped the trunk for him at his request.Yeah i got a ticket but they dropped it so it was worth it.</P>


The beating systems are a matter of taste.I personally think its pointless in a 500 dollar car with 5,000 worth of equipment.But much like hot rodders have been given a bad name by a select few the audio guys as well are taking s**t for their creations.Hell here its a 500 dollar fine now!And the second time they impound your car!Now thats just f***ing trying to dig in your pockets if you ask me!</P>

yea my sounds CAN be loud, but i like the sound quality, crisp highs, strong lows and warm mids is what i like...just like im gonna build my motor to take to the strip, and at the same time i can dB drag...</P>

i want one or two 10" subs for where my spare tire is. They do make music much better. Nothin like hearin Lars bang away at the drums, and somewhat feeling it bump along with it.</P>

10's catch rock sounds better and large subs catch the larger bump better like in rap and stuff. Vise versa 10's won't catch some of the notes and 12's will catch others. I have 2 10' Infinity kappa's, Alpine face, Kenwood Tweeters, MTX RT 330watt amp, and stock speakers all around. Sounds pretty good to me, but I listen to a lot of rock with rap.

what do you have the 2 15's in, what size hcca's.. i love those amps 1/4 stable the 250 will blow about 800wtts continuous at the right load

It's all about personal preference. If I was just racing then performance would be the way to go, but I don't just race. I got bored with the factory unit and decided to make a change. Nothing wrong with a nice system, subs def improve the quality of any music, I hardly ever use mine even half way up but they're def nice to have. I've got two older/better MTX 12's and an MTX amp I got from a friend for cheap, along with boston acoustics speakers and a sony flip down deck. The deck and speakers were in the car when i bought it. I like it, def nice on the highway and such when the wind noise in my vert gets bad. Also if I'm not mistaken this is the "Audio/visual Electronics" section of the forums? I think stereos are an ok thing to talk about here?

I have a Pioneer Premere DEH-P940MP head (6.5volt pre-amp outs). A lanzar 1800w rms 1ohm stable and a power acoustik Mofo 15 (the most powerful 15 I could find....sounds great). I'm planning on getting some pioneers for the front and back as well. I have it wired up with xm radio and setup to use my Ipod (40gb). I sounds sweet...very clear. I have to say, regardless of all the hype with alpine, pioneer has the clearest sound of all the heads out there. Alpine just has some neat toys to add on that pioneer doesn't offer.

You're wrong on that one dude. That's a very common misconception. 10s and 12s sound no different. I've got a ten that hits at 15Hz easy. Some 12s can't even touch that.

I run all Kenwood Excelon, DVD, 6x9 w/ tweets in front, tweets in sunroof, 4x8 mids rear, 2 12" subs KACX401M amp and KACX301T amp.... I love the way my system sounds.... and the amps light up blue lol

RE XXX Vented Enclosure of course but didn't sound the best (Obviously and I wasn't talking about just SQ either) so was redone.

Nak has the cleanest sound? Ever tried the Denon? :D It's all preference simple as that. Everyone's ear is different.

I remember we got into this argument a while back on a couple other audio boards and found that there really isn't that great of a difference but I can't remember which ones plus it's 5am and I am tired as hell. But the fact is a 12 can sound just as good as a 10. It has alot to do with enclosure type, size area, car it's in and where, etc. But other then that the 10s 12s 15s argument will go on forever.

i agree with that, the argument has been and will be around forever, i currently am back to sealed enclosures as i have been craving tight bass, and i don't have the space to run a ported.. denon head units are great, but the ugly naks are clean as hell.. look like factory stock trash but they do sound great. i bleed clarion though, still running the first clarion fold out(don't remember the model number through a 9300 dsp/eq proccessor and i love the sq i get from her

Yeah I've got the HX-D10...Only paid 250$ for it too LOL. Great unit and SQ. I remember when it came out it was like 700-800$. Dual Burr Brown 24 bit DACs with 128x oversampling and best of all.....no internal amp. At this point one of the best HUs for the money.


The Naks are stock looking and all but they have some issues or at least did with the skipping, sub upgradeability etc.

the six in dash did have some issues which they have worked out, but i just really don't like the appearance. the internals are exceptional though..
