Who do you guys think has the most reliable and consistent carburetors? Edelbrock or Holley, or another one? I'm getting one soon, I want a reliable carb for my daily driver. I know I need one with an electric choke, these cold mornings are killing me. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Personally I opted for an Autolite 4100. To steal a phrase from Ronco, Set it and Forget it [:)]

I have had very good results with Holley easy to tune & no problem rebuilding one.
I have no experiance with Edelbrock heard just rumers that they are a pain in the *** to tune and keep tunned.

i didnt vote because i have the exact same question so i can wait to see the result I know when mustang Monthly did their project car they used an Edelbrock 600cfm carb for their 289. though it was a little too big apparently. but i got a 351W so i plan for something big like that.

AS for the Old 4 barrrel ROAR, i like the edelbrock. I dont ever tune my carbs, even though, my edelbrock carbs, are said to be easy to tune. And they sound so much better then a Holley, which still has some problems IMO.

For a daily driver, I would go with a Holley 600 Vac secondary, electric choke. If you want more performance, Holley 650 dual feed, Mech. secondary, manual choke. I would not even think about an Edelbrock!

any one have any experience with barry grant demon carbs? i was planning on one for my 393w build. it will be a fairly modified motor.

After spending months trying to tweak and fine tune the Holley 650 carb, I gave up. At the same time, I was messing around with an Edelbrock on my wife’s car (350 Chevy) and it was a piece of crap too. I opted for a Holley 670 Throttle body on the 289 and what a simple 10 min joy to set it up. [:D] I opted for a Berry Grant 650 on the Chevy 350 and what a joy that was. [sm=smiley20.gif]
My choices would be a Fuel injection as a first choice and a BG Speed Demon as a second choice.

Edelbrock is by far easier to tune. Tuning doesn't require you to pull any part that is below the fuel level of the carb, so no mess. Instead of jets you put rods and springs in to meter the fuel. Access to them is via to openings in the TOP of the carb.

I switched over from a Holley 4160 that was a major PITA to tune. Every time you needed to change the jets, you had to pull the carb, empty the fuel bowl, and take 60% of the thing apart to get at them. Not to mention that the carb was only 6 months old and already leaking heavily thru the throttlebody rods.

The Edelbrock has a nice little 5 page set of tuning instructions... The Holley has a document that heavly refers to other documents, some of which recommend taking a drill and poping holes in the butterflys to get a proper tune out of them.

For performance go Holley, but for reliability and daily driving the Edelbrock wins hands down.

I have an Edelbrock Performer Series 600 cfm - Electric Choke. I had heard great things about the Autolite 4100 but the one I received from Pony Carb's just didn't have the throttle response and wouldn't idle for crap.

Although I don't like the look of the Edelbrock, it ran almost perfect out of the box and was only 240.00 vs. the 500.00 I spent w/Pony Carb.

I really don't think you can go wrong w/either Edelbrock or Holley.

If you want the most reliable carb out there, then get a Motorcraft 4100. There is a good reason why Ford put those on at the factory.

I like the edelbrock. Very easy to tune - I have tuned one. My has run very well for 10 years now.

My drag race freinds used to run the edelbrock now they are all switching to Demons.

I have heard that Carter AFB's are the same as an Eldebrock and a little cheaper. I use a Holley 600

A Demon is a Holley copy, I'm glad your freinds finally woke up! They must have been slow, because an Edelbrock can't hold enough fuel, even with mods, to feed a 10sec motor, not to mention a hop up kit is very expensive, unlike Holley. There is a reason B.G. and Demon are modified Holleys. If you read the directions on your new Holley, it is very easy to tune and very easy to mod.

It seems that overall, everyone seems to be 50-50 between the two. I guess Im gonna go with the Holley Street Avenger 670 (http://www.holley.com/types.asp?type=7). That has an elec choke and Vac Secondary.
