Ok, i've got the mach 460, and I want to install a new cd player/radio but the guy at my local auto sound store is telling me i've got to buy some 100.00 plug and then on top of that if I want to add subs I need some kinda RCA plug which will be another 100.00! Thats a lot of money! I don't know about any of you, but I don't want to spend that kinda cash! Any help would be great!

100 bucks a piece! I paid 25 for the line out converter for the subs (Best Buy). The other adaptor could be a bunch of things... Basically, Ford used one of the worst setups I've ever seen of in a car. Because of the amps in the rear deck (2) and the one behind the head unit, they run high and low frequency lines to the amps and then run wires to the speakers. I had subs wired in to the rear deck speakers via a line out converter, it sucked... it sounded weak, even with a 800 watt rms amp, I could barely see my 10" infinity perfect move. There is a better way to hook it up, but I couldn't figure it out and the shops won't do it. The only good option for sound quality is to replace everything related to the stereo. This means that you must replace the headunit, speakers and run new wires to the speakers. Ultimate Electronics wants $100 bucks to rewire it. Plus 35 and 45 to install the speakers.
Here is ****'s way of hooking up subs to a stock stereo. This is the method I tried, but was unable to hear any sound. A shop will probably hook the line out converter to a standard speaker wire, as mine did, but it will sound like crap. I hope this helps.

Yeah man the best thing to do is to just replace everything it is alot easier. Yeah if you're keeping the factory head uint then you will need a line out converter($22.99 at best buy I work there thats why i know the price) to give you the rca you need for an amp. Also if your goin to do a sub when you take out the mach 460 system you will get 3-4 more inches in the trunk. When first started on my system we integrated the in-dash with the mach 460 and it sounded like sh*t(I would not recommend it) Just finsh my system in my 03 GT with pioneer 6.5 in dash dvd, xm. tuner, kenwood 6.5" front, infinity 6x8" rear, Rockford 700s for subs, Rockford 500x for mids and highs, and 2-Rockford 12" HE2.

I just tapped into the wires for the rear speakers on my 98GT and it sounds alright. But I'm only running 1 10" MTX. What are you guys using for your boxes? Just the standard mdf genaric box?

I had a 1 cubic foot mdf box. Over the summer I took out all the carpet and spare tire and lined the spare tire well with foil and then made a custom fiberglass enclosure. I think it looked good, but it flexed too much. I only have 4-5 layers and 7-10 would be better. If anyone wants to try it, i can send some pics and give some info.

Why dont you just change out your componet speakers and add an amp and sub to the stock system. It'll be cheaper for the same effect. The factory 460 head unit is pretty powerful.

None of the shops I've been to seem to think it's possible. Some weird setup with the wiring. That would be my preferred choice because I don't want a blinged out headunit. I prefer the all black with big buttons for my big clumsy fingers. Let me know how you would hook it up.

Hey man, stupid question i have. How do you deinstall the CD player.........I tried yesterday and itwas apin in the butt..I just need to replace the right sided bulbs..thanks in advance ...........
