The insurance co total'd it out, and the car was sold to some private party in Oregon. Haven't heard or seen anything since. To resore that car to it's original condition (it would never be the same, regardless) would have cost a fortune. Just repainting the car would have cost a rediculous amount of $.

Man, Smoke your two black cobras side by side gave me the chills. I had read the heart wrenching story about your '03 Roush, and all I can say is freaking sweet man!
Also I love the 01-04 Saleen convertibles with roll bars, such gorgeous lines!
So many sweet Mustangs here so I'll add my humble contribution- or at least I think I will. I hope the upload worked. my 2005 Roush Sport Mustang GT convertible in triple black with silver racing stripes, shaker 500 stereo, carbon fiber and Roush instrument gauge interior upgade... I hope to soon be adding more performance mods and better wheels- all suggestions welcomed!

Here is my 1987 Saleen #197. It is now supercharged with NOS making 508rwhp and 465rwtq WITHOUT using the NOS, with the bottle she made 601rwhp but went extremely lean. Time for a fuel upgrade and maybe a 331 stroker kit. :-)

I've wanted a Saleen ever since my uncle bought his 1986 Mustang GT....that was roughly 20 years ago.

Just bought the S-281E (2002) a few months back....I've had the Cobra (1997) since 2001. If this trend keeps up...I'll be due for an another 4-year old Mustang/Saleen of some sort in 2011. One more and you classify as either a "collector" or "divorced"

Hey I was just looking through this thread and I was wondering what rear bumper does ExtremeSaleen has? Is it the stock bumper or what? I've seen this same bumper but only it said COBRA instead of SALEEN...

Think I will join the mix here. Unfortunately, these pics are from the purchase on eBay (3 months old) and was nearly 100% Saleen stock (had gears, "H" pipe and alum. shaft). I don't have any current pics so these will have to do for now. I have made MANY mods since then so looks a bit different all around [8D]

The rear bumper on the 2002 E's had room for the center exhaust, but it doesn't seem like the bumper had to be altered all that much (not any huge cutout or alteration). The screening where the cutouts are in the bumpers may be unique to the Saleens.....a detail I picked up on only after I bought my Saleen (my Cobra has a 97 rear bumper....so I'm not much help with the newer Cobra comparisons). Can't help with the 2005 - 2007 E's.

My New 06 Roush Sport


I like the black stripes on oadamo69's car. For years, I have thought the stripes were too... uh.... masculine or... something. In fact, I had the stripes taken off a new stang a couple of cars ago bec. I thought they were too much. I have been reading that muscle cars are the newest, hottest car. Looks like the craze is finally catching up to us 'stang lovers!

Believe me, she only got to borrow it for about 40 minutes, her uncle drove, and they *promised* they didn't go over 40 mph. I tried to get them to go romp on it, but they were afraid of a ticket :-) Even with the precautions, I found a new scruff after they gave me the car back (so small that nobody but me would ever notice).

Apparently, the Saleen was the talk of the town, although there were a few other nice cars there, including a Viper. It didn't hurt that uncle popped the car into neutral ever so often down the parade route and revved it up.

Yeah, she's too young for you, and I'm too married for you :D
I don't have any good pix because my hair's always too wind-blown! ;)

That would be nice! All I know is that it was originally a demo car based on the registry book. I've asked for a spec sheet, window sticker, or COA a few times from Saleen and even took a factory tour and asked again but still never received anything. If you have anything else I'd be very interested to know. I'll try Saleen again in a few months. Thanks!

Here's a picture of the original PPG Promotion car that was parked next to me at the same show. Pretty amazing paint job and some great history on this one!

Call Saleen and ask for TEAM SALEEN. They are the ones the keep the registry info and would be able to tell you how many cars were built identical to yours. As them to send you a copy of the Letter of Authenticity.

My guess is it is a 1 of 1 car as I have never seen another with Tan interior.

That was another post awhile back. I joined Team Saleen mainly to get the letter and am still waiting. Thanks for the info though!

Very nice. Is your rear suspension stock? Is might just me, but it looks like you have some lift going on in the rear -- with a bit more of a gap between the rear wheel and the body --creating some serious rake.

Its probably just the way it is sitting in his driveway. I have noticed this on my car at various times based on sitting on non-level ground.

Walc how do you like the Saleen S331SC sport truck?Also how does it compare power wise to the Saleen S281SC does it pull just as hard?

I DID see this car at Santa Clara. It has 22" wheels in that pic! It looks like a "Hot Wheels" car (not a put down, just has those same oversized wheels with major low profile tires)

Yes...That was my car..in the apex show..and I did good..I took home 2nd place...I put those 22's on the rear..just to prove a point..lol..I mean who puts 22 on a extreme? who has 22 on a stang period? But just to let everyone know..I still have the stock 18's and I only put the 20's or 22's for shows...The nationals are coming and I think Im just about to show it with the 18's on...I like to see the different reactions...

Yes indeed it is!! Are those Roush optioned wheels or did you add them [&:] One of the best S197 Roush cars I've seen :) The Roush cars have never really turned me on because IMO they don't complete the look with "eye popping" wheels and lowering job (talking S197 here) - but this one looks great.

Nice looking car. Too many of the S197's are "Sport" package and not rolling as low as the S2 and S3 cars.

You need to host the pics first on a web service such as imageshack.net or photobucket.com Once hosted they will give you a variety of html codes. You can't just copy a picture from your PC in the image code box.

Once hosted, copy the entire code tag for the one that says direct link to image for forums, and then in your message box click on the "Image" icon, it is the furthest to the right and directly above the text box. In that code box, delete the "http:..." and paste the link that you copied, and there you go :)

Hey what color is that car - doesn't look like a Ford factory color [&:] Is it Lizstick or another Saleen custom paint job? Looks very nice - I love darker, metallic reds :D

Hears my Saleen, 02'-373, Non-Supercharged completely stock... if anyone knows ware i can get a Speedster cover for it that would be sweet... and i know the coral in the grill is not supposed to be crome but the stock one was all chiped up, but currently it is now black again...
