hey I just upgraded my sound system with infinity reference series speakers and a pioneer headunit. It actually sounds worse that my stock headunit and speakers, because my headunit isnt powering my speakers correctly. I think im going with an infinity refernce series 7541a 4 channel 600watt amp. it has a 111 rmsx4, so the main reason why im posting this here is because i never bought an amp before and i was just wondering what i should and shouldn't do. For instance..

curcuit city's price= 300 + 75(4 year warranty) + 100(cables) + 100 (installation) = 575+tax

ebay= 275 (comes with 1 year warranty, shipping, wires/cables) << obviously no installation price

so is it worth saving 300, without the 4 year warranty? do amps burn out quick?

yea well they say its the humidity here that will get your amp... do you guys know what a swap shop is?.. if so should i stop by there? Its indoor with the sealed boxes, not the outdoor fleamarket crap.

well if ur buying the amp to power ur 4 speakers and not a sub go with probably circuit city or maybe ebay, but pick a good brand....however if its a sub amp dont go to circuit city go to like an audio/visual installation store, like auto-trix,sound systems lmtd.,or whatever kind of audio store u have there to get a good quality sub amp.......off brand amps are really unpredictable, they say they push so many watts rms when they actually dont, or lose the power they say they have over a couple months....but definately take this to off topic or actually there is an audio/visual section u could ask for the best brand for buck amp for powering speakers....

i too have a pioneer deck and circuit city installed it and its fked up,makes popping noises and is screwed up,free installation deck over 99,u get what u pay for...

get it done right, spend the extra money and have it installed profestionally

why not just get an exhaust and listen to that, thats the best music there is. below 3500 rpms.

how much are you looking to spend on an amp? also i have never seen humidity hurt and amp. i have seen people spill water on their amp and it shut off but after it dried out it came back on.

i asked some1 who knows there sh it, he said infinity is what most people use because it has an rms of 111watts to each speaker. thats plenty plus getting it new on ebay for 200 isnt bad at all, thats half of what i want to spend... also how does infinity have poor specs show me some proof on that because every site i go to has great ratings on this amp.

i dont know anyone that runs infinity amps and i know alot of shops that sell them and they say they arnt very good. if you got a budget of 400 id look into DLS or Arc amps way way better than most of your everyday amps.

I don't consider a S/N ration of below 81 dB "great." In fact, it is terrible. 1% THD - probably one of the worst 4 channel amps I've seen. I believe my last amp was 200x4 at .002% distortion and 115 dB.

The kicker there is the distrotion level...1% is HUGE. I would not recommend that amplifier...at all.

Really matters not to me. It isn't my equipment. Just trying to provide you with some insight into car audio as you seem to be decently ignorant about the subject at hand.
