I'll admit it, the XXX is a louder sub than the W7, it better be considering that the 12w7 is rated for 750watts RMS, and anything more than 1200 voids your warranty. Meanwhile the RE XXX boasts 8500watts RMS. So while you out buying alternators and batteries for you car, I'll be pocketing the money toward speed parts. Also, JL as a company does not consider their product to be for SPL use. It is all designed for sound quality, without being something that a second mortgage must be taken out on to purchase. Your compairing a small block ford to an alcahol burning, blown, sprayed, Siameese bored drag motor. Now which one is realistic.
As for the above picture, I'd love to see someone fit something like that into the trunk of a convertible Mustang.

My 10"W7 fits great into their with only 500 watts needed to get everything out of it.
Prior to this woofer, I preferred the Eclipse titanium series for sound quality, but the cone area was too small. JL was the first company to solve the cone problem so that you didn't have a 12" sub with an 8" cone bcause of the size of the surround, and they have the patent on it. The only other sub which has been able to do this is the Alpine Type X series, with their surround that is ridged to expand.

I never said that JL had the loudest sub on the market. I said that it is the best sounding sub.And with small space and without a thirst for power, untill someone comes out with something more efficient that can still produce that level of quality, i'm sticking with it.

actually the XXX is rated at 1600 wrms and yeah this ain't in my 5.0 its in my 81 cutlass. Also this sub is for sql not spl, re's MT line is a pure spl machine.

If the W7 is made for pure SQ then why do they have a 29mm excursion? Excursion, generally, is for higher spl and volume. Hell i know a 8 inch woofer that will blow away the W7 in SQ. But it can't get near as loud, so I can't say from an entire perspective it's better. Don't say the W7 is a pure SQ driver. If you want to talk about SQ lets look at Adire, have you ever heard of XBL2? For all you youngins out there it's a, what I would consider a revolution is subwoofer design. Basically eliminates a subwoofers capability of bottoming out. You wanna talk SQ, talk Adire. Their head man, Dan Wiggins, knows more about subwoofer design and operation than any 3 people combined at JL. Although I will say JL's marketing department is far superior to Adires.

I'm not ripping on you....I'm just....not sure if you are serious. I can get you plenty of low bass without having to buy a new alternator and ruin your trunk space.

I was running 3300 watts with no problems, as long as I had my batcap and supercap it ran fine? What would you suggest I do?

I can't suggest anything as I really do not know. I just can't believe you can draw that much power off of a stock alt.

After crunching some numbers...that comes out to about 275 amps to power 3300 watts. Even at a peak of 15 volts (rare) , it still comes out to 220 amps.....do explain.

actually the XXX has the same motor design the XBL2 as Adire so they have very very similar output and really nice SQ.

I'm now buying 3 12' memphis mojo's running them with 2 memphis 1100 watt amps and 1 memphis bell 1100 watt. Steve cook in Florence Alabama is doing it. He used to hold a world record for bass?? Anyways he promises it will be crazy loud.
