zipsayain -> Radio installment (help) (1/25/2004 11:41:36 PM)

(1997 6cylmustang ) Behind the factory radio there are two plugins(one's for power etc, and the second one is for speakers. But there is no volume. Someone told me that their might be an amplifier(with a FUSE out) in the trunk, but I can't find it?

If you bought a new deck, you need to go to Car Toys and get an adapter that will go from the deck to the stock wires.  Should cost about $16.  Just tell them what car and deck you have.

Some wire coat hangers cut to the shape of "U"s work just as good as the tools. If your car has the premium sound and the factory amp you will need the adapter cables to bypass it.Im not sure of yours but mine had that factory amp and premium sound crap and i ended up rewiring anyways for my amps and such so i gutted it.

If it doesnt have premium sound and just the headunit and speakers you need the wiring adapter and you can get this anywhere including wal-mart.Wire the adapter to your new headunits harness and please at the least use shrink wrap if you cant solder it.And then plug it up and go.The wires are all color coded and easy to wire up.

Please visit this site's installation guide if you want to do-it-yourself... I wouldn't recommend it unless you can't afford $7-15 for an adapter that will make things a lot easier
