it seams like all the newer mustang owners are going ricer... the mustang is a muscle car. its not ment to have 20" chrome rims, gay ass ground effects. Or even big spoilers... the owners of new mustangs make me sick... i seen a nice cobra today with rims, the tires looked like ruberbands... it has ugly ass head lights and tail lights, spoiler and ground effects.

sorry, i just needed to vent

I beg to differ. My 05 GT has none of the ricer effects on it. I like the looks of it just as it is (maybe it needs wider tires) I see very few riced out mustangs of any vintage in my neck of the woods.

I see lots of riced out stangs here. Wierd wheels, spoilers that look like park benches, and aero-kits that would make a honda blush

oh, i love the 05's that are MUSCLE cars... i just hate the ricer ones... along with the 90's that people "rice" out and no, i have never seen a "vintage" ricer. i was just rrefering to the newer cars

i agree that mustangs are not to be riced and are muscle cars, especially classics like ours, but i havent seen any riced out stangs down here. sometimes i see chrome wheels but they're never bad.

The same crap went on in the 50s & 60s too....

Posers:
Hanging a second tail pipe tip on their car so it looked like it had duals

Non-Posers:
Mandrel bending 4 inch pipes for the their car in the back yard using their 'member' as the pipe fill

Posers:
Go to auto store buy 5 inch wide tape and put lemans stripes on their car

Non-Posers:
Go to lemans

Posers:
Cutting hole in their hood with hacksaw to fit taller high flowing air filter and get ram air effect for performance

Non-posers:
Cutting hole in their hood with hacksaw to fit roots blower and dual quad setup

There is nothing new in the world ;)
There are Riced out cars today and truly setup performance cars today
There were 'supped' up jalopies in the past (still are) and also truly setup performance cars in the past (still are)

It sickens pretty much any true mustang guy, even us with the newer mustangs. But what is ones man's junk is another man's treasure. Sadly to say

I think if anyone honestly wanted to make their car cooler, they wouldnt "rice" it out. The stuff that they use to rice out the exterior of the car happens to be the cheap stuff, not the quality parts. The problem occurs when casual car drivers get a relatively good looking car for a cheap price, then think they can go down to pepboys, slap on a bunch of stickers, light things and shiny stuff and make their car look cool. Sorry guys, your neon floormats, LED valve stems and sparkly shift knobs dont make the cars go any faster. Stick to engine parts.

just my $.02

For years and years, there was an unwritten brotherhood code among Mustang owners that simply stated that there would be no ricing of Mustangs. Then, for the past few years, and the popularity of the Honda ricers, etc. it seems that some of the younger crowd of Mustang owners don't understand that brotherhood code. Mustangs don't have mud flaps. Pure and simple. That has always been understood. That sort of thing is what I am talking about as far as the brotherhood code goes. And, they certainly don't have neon lights, stickers and big assed wings for spoilers. Those are no no's among the Mustang brotherhood. Real Mustangers try to upgrade to "Practical" components that make the car either faster, or safer. Putting neon lights under a Mustang accomplishes none of these. As far as the word "Muscle" cars are concerned.....the muscle car terminology died with the 1973 year model.

true, they did start the low compression and went more towards economey (sp) cars in the 70's. i think the 80's foxes kinda brought them out of it.

nualln is right, the cheaper price of mustangs because of cheaper parts has made the car more available on the market. Since the kids buying the new stangs wasted all their money on the car, they don't have anything else to do except buy those new taillights, bigger muffler and tinted windows. It's just how life is, any young teen that just wants to be cool by throwing in a couple extra bucks into his car to stand out from the stock end.

I don't think that FORD itself is making mustangs "ricer," its just that the car is cheaper and the ricer market is beginning to expand beyond hondas to other markets (such as ford)...and quite frankly...there are just some people out there who have no style and think that the ricers above are actually cool.

it partially deals with economics and partially deals with bad style.
