Whats Up guys!

Just wanted to stop in and say Hi. Right now I drive a 2005 Cobalt SS but my previos vehicles have included everything from a 2002 Camaro SS to a 2003 Mustang GT.

Why would you get rid of the cars you had for a cobalt Super Sport..?

But anyways good luck with it:D

I just get tired of stuff fast. I have had many different cars other than what I have posted too.

- 1991 Mustang GT
- 1992 Oldsmobile Achieva SCX W41
- 1991 Firebird Formula
- 1991 Camaro RS
- 1990 IROC
- 1986 IROC

GM Stage 2 will move the Cobalt SS onto a whole different playing field. Running 15psi of boost teamed with Injectors and a ECM Re-Flash mid 13's will be easy. Team that with awesome handling and it's the perfect package. Except for the whole FWD part!

As for performance 100% stock I ran a 14.46 @ 99.8mph with a 2.31 60ft. That was driving it nice and with under 5000 miles on the clock.

I thought about getting another Mustang but the prices for the 05's and 06's are a joke. I also thought about a used 03/04 Cobra but I could have bought a new one for what people are getting for them used.

wow dude thats pretty impressive. i have to say the GTO i am not impressed with though.

saw a few at the track and was really dissapointed. i would take that cobalt ss stock and spray 50 through it. w/ some traction you'd see 12's

99mph trap speed is no joke for that car.

It is fun to mess with unsuspecting LT1's and GT's.

I actually drove the saturn ion redline (same thing as the cobalt) and its pretty respectable, by no means is it fast, but its fun. I actually like the saturn better than the cobalt. With a little work, and taking the damn spoiler off it would be a nice sleeper.

They gave the SS label to the cobalt now? Man...they throw that label around like it is nothing anymore...the Impala of the 60s would be rolling over in its grave.

With the exception of a couple cars from back in the day 90% of the new SS labled cars are faster. The 10% being the Monte Carlo SS (since the 80's) and the S-10 SS.

Impala was the first to carry the SS badge, and then Camaro and Chevelle came along...after that, I don't really care...depending on what year the monte received the SS, I am not sure, I may be made to care about that too.

I don't not like the Cobalt..looks like a quality vehicle, best of the American compacts by far...but to me being a muscle purist, it is sort of a bastard child and brother to the dodge neon and ford focus that Japanese imports have forced American car companies to start to produce to compete in that market. The American compact market symbolizes the fall of the era and type of car I love so much...which is hopefully on a comeback tour. So tacking on the SS badge which belongs to muscle cars to a non muscle car...well...

Who cares?

I bought a Cobalt SS it has a 4cyl with a S/C stock it runs low 14's with $800 it will be running 13's all day long. With that being said with the exceptions of LS1's and Mach1's I will be able to embarass alot of people.

Thats why I bought it. If I wanted anything else I could easly afford it.

Agreed, I'm also talking about the "perfect traction for the SS"...well with Perfect traction on a GT, you'd still be beat.
"Paper racing is lame (I agree) and magazine numbers are conservative for a Cobalt SS" But then to say Magazine numbers on a GT are giving too much...there again... comments made that are hypocritical and one sided generalizations.

Saying that there were not many 396's wasn't being one sided, It's called stating facts.

"The only person who will be embarassed is you...racing around in that damn thing. Damn kids"

So let me get this straight from a dig Cobalt SS vs 99-04 GT is a drivers race and from a roll it's all Cobalt SS and I need to be embarassed?

I love the kids comment, how old are you sir.

Actually a buddy of mine justgot an 05 ss. It's a pretty tight little car, I drove it, now i'm not impressed considering I went from a v6 4x4 95 4runner to an 04 cobra....but what do you expect. It's a pretty swift little monster.

put 12 psi of boost on any of those cars in your sig and they'd wipe the floor with ya. including the mustang. so whats the point?

codyss
12-08-2005, 06:06 PM
If I put 12 pounds of boost on my LS1 I would be cleaning up pistions and rods!:D

I really didn't come here to start **** guys.

You know you did. You are a fool who lacks any knowledge. I know I have told you this in about 30 threads and in 22 forums but I will tell you again. YOUR CAR IS SLOW. YOU CAN'T BEAT LT1s or 99+ GT MUSTANGS.

12-08-2005, 06:56 PM
Hey 757GT why don't you pull your head out of your ass? What the hell do you know? All I have seen you do is complain.

And until a 99-04 GT runs solid 13.9-14.0 my Cobalt SS will keep up. At least admit that it's a drivers race or you truly are an idiot.

How much power can that econo-box handle before things start to go?

And how much of it does it share in common with the Cavaliers?

Look dumbass, they dont need to run 13s to beat a mid 14 sec. econo **** box with a big wing. You say so much dumb stuff and expect not to get flamed. We love flaming you that is all you are good for.

even i will admit that for the price it puts up good numbers and competes with bone stock gt's. not to mention having decent gas mileage. the difference is the gt hasnt even had its potential tapped. 9 lbs of boost isnt unreasonable for the 4.6 to handle and with that your looking at low to mid 11 second 1/4 mile times. theres just no replacement for displacement. :D

I just got a rental car for my car being hit by the damn snow plow[:@]! Well its a 05 Cobalt not an SS, but its very very slow, and i hate the interior!...whats the HP rating on the SS i kno its faster than my rental but i dont like it at all anyway. Id much rather have my car over your car even if it ran 13's.

Quickshift_02GT
12-09-2005, 12:09 AM
I drove a rental Cobalt when the company sent me to Canada for work. It was obviously the base model, but its the build quality that I was concerned about. I highly doubt the build quality and parts of the SS is dramatically different than their base model.

It's the same as the Cavaliers. The build qualities are the same, except one model is a slight bit faster.

blah blah blah. you ran a mid 14, good for you. your average drivers of the cobalt run low 15s. 99+ GTs are capable of a 13.9. has it been done? yes, a lot? no. has a cobalt SS ran a 14.5? probably so. a lot? no. an average joe in a 99+ GT can tap mid 14s all day where as the average cobalt driver will be hittin probably 15.0 all day.
