That's cool. This car is floating my boat, which is why I so adamently defend these cars. I'm passionate about whatever I get into.
I'm just waiting on my cams and exhaust... then I'll have a decent set of bolt ons. After that, the credit card is getting disabled until it gets paid down. lol

Bah! Economics be damned. Okay I am not one who believes the price of a car determines its worth but I do know that if your main goal is a fast and great handling car you can spend as much as you want and there waill always be something faster. You'll ice some (enter great car here) and get smoked by (some mediocre car here) because he put it together better.
Which reminds me last month while I was honeymooning my new wife and I saw a really nondescript black 4 door civic (no silly wing maybe a body kit but a very non extreme one, dark window tint, it did have Big red calipers on RW discs which is what caught my eye in the first place) race and murder a porsche 911. I mean the civic smoked that car bad the 911 was between the honda and I. Chirped its tires and screamed off at the light after a few seconds (6 or 7) I could see the civic in front of the 911 the angles involved mean that honda put buslengths on a car that by all rights should have ignored the silly kid next to him. The brake souds ant the next light +/- 1/2 mile away told me both cars were racing to the end.
mustangs rule all btw

I'm done with 2000si, didn't bother to read his response. It all breaks down to run what ya brung. Why someone can hate a product so much in one breath dissing everybody here in the process then say he likes Mustang's is beyond me. Anyway, I'm done with this thread, may it reset in peices.

LMAO!
Once I'm done with my suspension... an IRS equipped Cobra won't touch me in the twisties.
ok i'll tell you what, i never had a problem with you..but when you make comments like this you just getting yourself in trouble. I have been driving pro for 8 years, and you get your suspension on your honda, and i will go with a stock honda civic, and i will beat you by a couple secs. on the twisties, its not the car, its all in the driver. My 95 cobra( not the best car for track ) but i can kill any corvette, camaro, subaru with a regualr driver. And if anybody has any doughts, sign up for PDA PERFORMANCE DRIVING SCHOOL, i work for them in the summer and i'm a driving instructor for them, and i will teach you guys how to get around those corners. I PROMISE!!! 2000si i hope you dont get all defensive now!!!!!

Oh for the love of God... lol
So a civic with a turbo can't be in the 13s? Hell you better tell that to the guys with bolt on N/A D series SOHC vtecs running 13s.
What do you have? A stock GT with stock 3.27s? Is that why you think his shift points are off? 3.73s are going to make a giant difference in shift points and patterns.
About a whole 200 RPMS? I don't care if you've got 4:30's. 4th is the wrong gear at 60 mph.

I do plan on taking driving courses when I have the time and money to do so. So your entire paragraph was just wasted time.

Come race with us at the PDA driving school 2000si, i'll promise i'll teach you how to drive, no matter what car you have. I Dont care what people drive as long as they willing to listen to me. I taught people how to drive everything from a ferrari to a minivan on the track. I'm more than capable and willing to teach you for a lower cost. I'll even take you on a spin on my cobra( or the company's z06 ) around the track in the intructors race. That's where you see and learn what it takes to be a race car driver. I drove many years in FORMULA 3000( in europe ) i'm here trying to get into the champ car league, but because of a bad accident unfortunatly i might just be to big of a liability to a race car company and sponsor. But seriously PM me when you intrested in learning.
By the way something i never understood about 1/4 mile racing, what is the point of racing staright when you could have so much fun in the turns? Most mustang owners only talk about 1/4 mile times, but i never hear them say, i beat a corvette or a camaro at the race track. Why do you guys only concentrate in going on a straight line?

God this has to be the most beaten horse in the history of the world. Most do it because when on the street do you generally go flying around a blind turn while racing someone? No. (though you may, most don't) You generally just race in a straight line with very few turns at all. It is just much safer in terms of the two, and honestly most people can't drive for crap, so most build thier car for straight line performance. Many don't want to risk throwing thier car into a tree. As for mustang owners/rwd V8 cars talking about 1/4 mile performance, why wouldn't they? The cars are some the best 1/4 mile platforms (not mustangs neccissarily, but rwd V8) that are available cheaply. It is something that everyone can do, and do it relatively safely all of the time.

Street racing is never "necessarily safe" period. Unless you block off streets in the middle of nowhere, get a tree and some timers.
Oh wait... that's called a track. n/m. It's not the most beaten horse in the history of anything, the most beaten horse is all you knuckle heads asking me why I don't get a V8 with piss poor handling characteristics just so I can go fast in a straight line. I don't know how many times I have to give you my reasons. There's more than one aspect to your car. There's a reason why performance cars have tighter suspensions than that of their smaller, cheaper bretheren.
why the hell would I want an Si if it didn't come with a tighter spring rate, front strut bar, double wishbone suspension and upgraded brakes? Mad tyte VTAK! Well, that's one. But that helps in the twisties also.
Seriously. If all you can do is live your life a 1/4 mile at a time, you're no better off than those idiot kids with fart cans and wings who go around trying to act all big and bad with their crappy "modded" cars.

what if I want to be a drag racer? Im less enthusiastic about cars???? what? You can go peddle that to someone stupid 'cuz I'm not buying it. Now I plan on building a car that has power and perfomance enough to drag and suspension enough to twist.
BTW I have it I don't know how hard your car can corner but mine can carve corners just fine. In the mountain roads nothing scares me more than logging trucks certainly not cornering, 80,90, and 120+ on the Grapevine and my stang sticks to the road great. Don't tell poeple how you think is the only way to think because a stang can corner just as well as a civic if not better, faster and look better while doing it.
Our cars can hold corners alot better than you seem to credit them and do it fast.

you missed my point. I know your cars corner well, but just think about the possibilities of doing it even BETTER. The thrill of taking a well known corner just 2 mph faster than you used to.
Pulling 40-60 around on and off ramps is where I get my kicks. I follow the apex and challenge myself to get just 1 mph more each time until I find my personal limit.
Going in a straight line gets boring all the time.

Be an auto enthusiast, not a drag racer.
James, you're no better than one of those freak show bible thumpers that believes their way is the only way to get to Jesus, and everyone else is going to hell. You have to listen to them, but they won't listen to you...
Why is it that you put everything that other people like down? Maybe some people like Drag Racing. I know that I do. I also like RWD V8 cars. Not 4 cyl FWD imports. I fail to see how you can compare us, or anything I own to a ricer with a fart can and a stupid wing just because I don't want to go race in the twisties. Maybe it's not my thing.
You sir, claim to be open minded, all it look like to me is that you force your opinion on others who don't care to hear it. Then you argue with them because they don't like to race Hondas. How can you fault someone for their own opinions?
And I'll just give you a heads up. I've done my share of road racing. The FWD car at the track...No fun. (I've raced both) Not to mention that it's the most expensive thing you'll ever do with a race car.

I have to agree with you sideways, Road racing could be the most expensive sport. But its the best way to learn to drive your car. You could use the knowledge you learn in the track in our everyday streets. Yeah obviously you not going to go 150 mph and try to brake at the last point so you can make the turn faster than your competition, but you know exactly what points you need to hit on the turn so you could do it safetly and fast. I challenge myself with the stang all the time, i try to make blind turns whithout even stepping on the brake, But thats because i know how to drive on a race course. But if you place me in a 1/4 mile track, i know how to shift, i know how to get off the line quick and i know how to get the best performance out of my car, and all of this i learned from road racing, which is something that amazes me, why would you guys limit yourself in just going straight when in other types of racing you will learn how to do everythign else.
