Default gear selection advice

My next project is new gears. My car is a manual shift. To me 410 is out of the question. So its either 355 or 373. I have a friend who owns a Ford dealership and said if I bought the parts, he would have one of his mechanics do it. He recomeded Ford racing gears, they make a kit that has everything you need, fluid, shims the whole works. He will do it for 300 bucks. So Im back to gear choice what do you guys think between 355 and 373. I was thinking 355 so I don't sacrifice too much high end. All opinions appreciated

Thanks
Steve

4.10`s or nothing.... You wont be sorry. Everyone with 3.73`s say they wish they went with 4.10`s.

with 355 u wont notice much of a difference and will have just thrown out $600 dollars for labor and parts.

4.10's... u wont lose any top end and your MPG will suffer maybe 1-2

I wasn't shifting a lot even with 4.30's.

Don't listen to what stupid myths other people come up with. The people who say errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr you'll be shifting every other second with 4.10's!! Maybe with a 3 speed manual or a 4 speed manual, but the gearing in your 3650 sucks and the 4.10's will be the perfect gear.

300 is not really a great deal for the installation

You've got 3.23's right now (3.27? one of those two), switiching to 3.55's will hardly be a noticable difference. How often are you doing 130+ anyway? I won't bother convincing you for 4.10s, but go with 3.73s at the least or don't change them at all.

The reason I was against the 410s was a buddy of mine has a 67 chevelle cranks out over 500 horse. 410s his top end was like 85 mph god you got there in a hurry, that is just a horror story and I know it probably far from apples to apples. So the question to all you guys who reccomended 410s what are we talking high end? As for 300 bucks to change the gear, shim it and do it perfectly with a ford trained tec I think 300 is a steal. If I have a problem, Ford isn't going to run from it , especially since the owner and I are friends and travel in the same circle. 300 bucks dosen't buy much labor anywhere around here. Let me know what you think about the 410s, you almost have me talked into it.

Thanks

Steve

dude if it's $300 for installation only that is a huge ripoff. it should be about $200 for install for $400 complete

it's not that you will hate the 3.55 or 3.73, but you don't lose much more mpg w/ a 4.10 and it WILL RUN LIKE RAPED APE !

talk to anyone who has/had 4.10's they will tell et's you won't believe.

my old notch went 13.20's on 4.10's et streets and exhuast, thats it.

i would never do 3.55's unless your getting a blower, if your really scared of the 4.10's do the 3.73's.

but 4.10's are the best.

i'm ready to do 4.10's for the 2nd time
