03 or 04. All have forged internals so as far as supercharger potential there you go. You can do a few pulley swaps and tunes for HUGE gains. Handle 700+ hp easy on stock 32v engine.

I think this is totally preference. I'm partial to the 2001 with the IRS. Wheel hop does suck, but my eibach springs cleared that up. Kenne Bell makes a couple of really nice setups for sc's. The 01's are going to be cheaper to buy and I actually like them more. Like I said though, I think alot is going to preference.
there is nothing wrong with the 03's except the gas padal recall which consists of putting a plastic plate under the gas pedal so that it cannot get hung up in the carpet.
Insurance cost really depends on your situation. I'm 28, married, never had a claim (knock on wood), and currently no points - the diff between the '02 GT and the '99 Cobra was barely noticable.

You need to clarify what your expectations and your budget is that would def help out. Also what body style you prefer. If your bujget allows the 03-04 is the king of the hill. 1. 03-04 Cobra- Big Daddy, Pure sex with all the goodies. 2. 03-04 Mach 1- Pull low 13's Bone stock with a 4v. 3. 99-01 Cobra- Plentifull and can be found under 13K for a nice one. Mid 13's with a decent driver, no low end Torque but it pulls great up top. 4. 96-98 Saleen- These can be supercharged and had for around 12K-17K Sweet suspension and a killer Body kit.(Personally my favorite) 5. 96-98 Cobra- Plenty out there can be had from 7K-10K Probably a 14.0 car stock. 6. 94-95 Cobra- Kinda rare but not too expensive 5K-8K 7. 93 Cobra- If you get a clean one Garage it!! If it were my choice I would probably go with a S281E or an 01 Cobra.
I would say the 2004 cobra, the termis are the best car ford ever made, but the 03's had a few kinks in it....the hood chips, they had problems with head tick, im pretty sure theres something else. I have an 03 and love but if i had my chance id prolly go for an 04, really a flawless and sick car man. Insurance will be affected by where you live, your age, and your driving record most importantly. You can go online to most insurance places and get a quote in a few mins. g/l

I dunno about you guys and your insurance, but I have Allstate and pay the same for my 03 Cobra as I do for my 97 GT. About $150 per month total for both.

head tick is in both years. My 03 doesnt have the tick and ive never heard of hood chiping. The only difference is the earlier heads have less threads for the plugs which shouldnt be a problem. All years need pedal recall
