ok, l heard the '03 Cobra can run door to door with a Vette Z06. And a Z06 can run door to door with a SRT-10, so does that mean the Cobra can run with the SRT-10??? My friend and l got in an argument and l said the Cobra runs with the Viper....lf it does, it'll be sad because the Viper has 500hp.

I would question the 12.2 times for the Z06. Maybe on slicks. The tests I've seen show closer to 12.8/12.6. I think some of these tests they must be using some serious VHT or something. Remember, all the new Cobra guys have to do is change the air filter, add a Lightning pulley and they've got 11's too. For a lot less money.

I have a 2002 Z06, and trust me, it won't run 12.2 stock. Best I've got is a 12.6. And there's no way the vipers run in the 11's. they run low 12's, about 12.2-12.4. Actually, the Vette and Viper run a lot closer than you think. Not door to door, obviously, but if a vette gets a viper off the light, it WILL be door to door at the end of the track! As for the cobra's, they run 12.9-13.1 on average. I could easily get my vette to a 12.4-12.5, with a few more runs. Depends on time of day and humidity as well. Anyways, these cars are great. I don't care much for the viper, for I think it is VERY overpriced. It has 500 HP, yes, but it only runs within a few tenths quicker than the vette and it only gets around 10 MPG as opposed to the vettes' average 20 MPG, which is amazing for such a sports car, don't ya think? I am getting a new cobra, so I will be in a good position to compare performance in both cars. Just my $.02.

They get 20 MPG? That's insanity! You'll never see me complaining about chevy...but the Cobra is still very cool. In fact, I'd still take a S/C Cobra over that any day. Anyone know the gas mileage on Cobras?

Oh, of course...but on the subject of bang/buck...might as well get a GT and do some pretty heavy mods and use your own supercharger since i know there's better than what Ford's putting in those Cobras.

gas milage for 2003 cobras are 16 city, 22 hwy. Yeah, I was getting a new saleen until i started looking into the new cobras. The new cobra is definitely the way to go for the money. It's cheaper, and will out run even the supercharged saleens, which is very impressive. And yes, the Z06 does get 20 mpg. and thats an average city driving mpg for me. I've never taken it on a trip, but guys on corvetteforum say they easily get up to 28 mpg all the time. Not bad at all for chevy, but you guys know, although I like both chevy and ford, chevy has ALWAYS had better gas milage in their cars. For some reason, fords just dont get good gas milage. oh well, great bang for the buck. I love the new cobras... speaking of this, can anyone tell me how I can change my member name??? HAHA!!!

According to a great many websites, the viper will run in the 12.0 to the high 11's. And with 500 hp and 525 ft/lb torque, it should. These sites include Car and Driver articles, autoweek, etc.

The Car and Driver I read showed the new Viper running 12.20's. Like any car it depends on how you drive it. If they let me test it for the quarter you better believe I would haze the clutch from the line at 5 grand and never lift between shifts. That will net a killer ET but for sure shorten the life of the hardware. Ah, must be the life as a car tester.

Very true. Mostly depends on who drives. I just figured that the average person who buys a viper can't get it to the 11's. I just said around 12.2-12.4 because that's probably what most people will end up running. With times laid aside, the bottom line is that the viper is fastest, then the Z06, then the cobra. But, as you all know already I'm sure, buy a Z06 for 52,000, buy a supercharger for 6,000, then you will eat most vipers out there, and they cost... what, 80,000+??? not sure on the price, but you can do the math guys! lol

that so stupid when people bring up who paid more money for there car you think the guy in the viper bought it because it was the fastest thing for his money i dont think so. so dont compare how fast cars are to how much they cost cause anyone buying a exotic car doest but them cause there power to money
