yeah, with a lot more practice, you could get down a little bit more. Good times though. Although it's not a mustang, my vette ran an 8.70 @ 85 mph in the 1/8, which should be around a 12.7 @ 110 in the quarter.

With headers, K&N, and some timing, my SS ran 14.3's in the 1/4. With the new engine in, I made 2 passes at 13.2's. I was extremely disappointed, yet not at the same time. You can't expect your engine to truly shine if the rest of your vehicle isn't up to par, and you only have 500 miles on the engine and about 20 minutes tuning . I need stall in a bad way, my tranny has an auto-shift from the factory at 4800 rpms...while my cam pulls to 6000. Those runs were made are old BFG street tires with no type of traction aide. I hope to be in the low 12's eventually. Dred
Sounds like a bad SS!I want a quick truck thinking about a lightning.
Thanks, it's getting there. Hard to build a performance ride while trying to put yourself through school. All my money this semester is for the paintjob and lowering. Dred

Well livenfine, I really hate to break it to you, and I really don't mean this in any way to sound like I'm a know it all, because I'm not. But drag racing happens to be one of my most knowlegable subjects, for I've been around drag racing all my life, and I know pretty much right off the top of my head about what something will run in a quarter by having their 1/8 time. Not only that, there is a formula that is used to calculate your 1/4 mile time using your tire size, 1/8 mile time, horsepower, and your gears, which I used in figuring out my time so it would be close to precise. And also, two cars can run different times in the 1/8 and those same two cars run the exact same time in the 1/4, due to top end horsepower, rearend gears, torque... etc. Just because he can beat me in an 1/8 mile doesn't mean I can't pull him from that point forward. And besides, 12.7 is around what the Z06 is supposed to run in the 1/4 mile anyways. Are you questioning every magazine out there that tests these cars, as well as me? Maybe you're not questioning me, but it just sounded that way. Have a nice day!

03SVTcobraa, you are absolutely correct. My car ran 8.1 in the 1/8th and 12.80 in the 1/4th. My MPH was 108 and 60' was 1.8. My guess is your Z06 had something around a 2.0 to 2.2 60' time to net the 8.7. The Z06 has a bit more power than my car which would explain the higher MPH (110). You could gear a car to redline in top gear by the 1/8th and have a crummy 1/4th time (if you could make it that far.) 1/8th to 1/4th conversions are estimates. Not actuals. It all depends on your set up.

My friend here has a 502 in his SS. Other than that our trannies are similar and rearends are geared the same, he ran 8.1 in the 1/8th and 12.75 in the quarter. I think the 60' was 1.8. My truck has gone 8.61 in the 1/8th and 13.2 in the 1/4. A conversion shows that I should have run a 13.35, so even with 3.73's which are a little more 1/8th oriented, those conversions are off. He just switched cams and had headwork done on the 502, so we're expecting somewhere in the 11's N/A. Dred

I race my car a few times a year now that I've got four kids, but I still have fun doing it with my friends.I try to add a few items to my car every year to either make it faster or look better or both. My car is quite drivable with a small cam and 3.50 gears it cruises pretty nice. Come on,whats everybody else got out there?

1998 Trans Am.....13.733 1996 Z28.......14.021 Both cars are stock except a CAI on the 96. I think if I could drive the 96 6 speed a little better I could get it into the 13's. This was my first time going to the track and I didnt get to see a 03 cobra run. What have they been running? I've been reading a lot of good thing about them. 385 RWHP.....Thats bad A$$
