First of all, I don't know too much about my new Cobra. It is the first V-8 and Ford that I have owned. I have noticed that all '01 Cobras I have seen on the internet (pictures) have exhaust pipes coming out the back of the car. Why do I have pipes coming out the side skirts? Is this custom or did some come that way from Ford? Also, Where is the best place to start with cheap mods to these cars? For example, all of my N/A 4 bangers have been best with a CAI, where as my 2 turbo'd cars were best with exhaust first. Thanks to everyone for welcoming me!

The only cars ford produces factory with side exhaust is the Cobra R, and the roush. Yours is probubly something aftermarket. what year is it and did you buy it used?</P>

Now as for your first mods I would go with simple things like new ignition wires, spark plugs, throttle body, intake, rear end gears, headers, and definitely an exhaust if the one that's on there is stock.</P>

Your profile says your military, where you stationed at?</P>

Anyways if there is anyother ?'s you got let me know.</P>

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but a Cobra is a real high performance car. Do not even venture into cheap mods or you'll turn it into a junk heap. I would look in to an O.E.M. super charger because your engine and drive train are already designed to handle it. Lighter wieght "Cobra" suspension, I.E. A-arms, drive shaft, sub frame connectors, etc. If you have side exhaust, it sounds like you already have high performance exhaust. Bottom line, treat'er good, treat'er like a thoroughbred, because that's what you have. I'd love to see a pic or two, sounds like a great car!<img border="0" src=smileys/smiley14.gif border="0"> <edited><editID>HotRods_n_Booze</editID><editDate>38007.925162037</editDate></edited>
