If you get your Stang chipped, you can change all of your governors points. Best of all, rpm shift points. V6's first gear cuts way to early.

Ford chip.com - JMS.com - Diablo - super chip
In all honesty, your best bet is to go to a Mustang speed shop and have them chip and dyno. It takes more than one pull on the dyno to get it right, so I'm not big on buying a pre burned chip that someone that never even ran dyno numbers on your car, but that's just my opinion.

i haven't had the car shut off at top speed yet, it just hits a rev limiter and lowers your rpm a little

You don't hit the limter when you reach the governed speed.  The car cuts either fuel or spark. Not sure what fords do.  Basically the car will lose power, scare the crap out of you and then turn back on.  As soon as the speed drops below the govener the car will return fuel/spark to the motor until you do it again.  Really not to exciting unless it's the first or second time just because it usually spooks the person.

03trublue u can only hold first gear to 35.  In my 97 stang I can hold my first gear to 45 and sometimes 50 if I really want to push it.
